Job Description :

Ballard Spahr, a national law firm with more than 650 lawyers in 15 offices across the country is seeking a BASE Program Administrator who will be responsible for organizing, managing and executing the BASE (“Ballard Academy for Student Entrepreneurs”) program firmwide. This position interacts with attorneys, department leadership, Firm clients, Firm contacts serving as mentors, panelists for education sessions, executives and leadership at business schools, and university entrepreneurial programs, and student entrepreneurs. The BASE Program Administrator will report to the Business & Transactions Department Chair and Director of Practice Management.

The primary responsibilities are as follows:

  • Market the BASE program, communicate and develop relationships with university executives and staff at business schools and in entrepreneurial programs;
  • Conduct initial review of BASE applications, monitor the quality and satisfaction of each BASE participant, including periodic check-ins and maintenance of status report for each BASE participant;
  • Assist in connecting appropriate Ballard lawyers with BASE participants, as well as, develop and connect industry mentors for BASE participants in various cities where we have offices;
  • Collaborate with the Practice Group Leaders of the Emerging Growth and Venture Capital Practice Group, the B&T Department Chair, and the Director of Practice Management in the planning, coordination and execution of BASE Jump, all educational events, and networking events with the BASE program.
  • Maintain data on the BASE program for each year, highlighting client successes, on-going representations, admittance to later stage accelerators, and connectivity with other Firm contacts.

Required Skills

The selected individual must be service-oriented, exercise good judgement, has excellent organizational, problem solving and communication skills. The ability to remain calm under pressure, work independently, and maintain a focus on priorities while meeting strict deadlines are required.

The ability to build strong working relationships, be able to learn the basics of new technological applications fairly quickly, an eye for detail, and the ability to anticipate issues and proactively develop and implement creative solutions are essential.

Required Experience

Requirements include a bachelor's degree, proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint and a demonstrated interest in entrepreneurial/start-up eco-system, legal profession and/or corporate social responsibility. Law firm, emerging growth company, or non-profit work experience helpful. Experience in event coordination, marketing and/or communications functions preferred. Must be able to work beyond the standard scheduled work hours as needed to perform the essential duties of the position. Very limited travel required.
