Job DescriptionPOSITION PURPOSE:The Marketing Specialist performs a variety of moderate to complex duties in the efficient operation of an administrative or academic capacity of the college. This position interfaces with college employees, area media, and community in communicating college information as directed by the Executive Director of Marketing. The Marketing Specialist is responsible to the Director of Marketing.GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs a variety of duties at a high level of responsibility in the efficient operation of the marketing and public relations information unit of the College involving contact with faculty, staff, students, media, and the public while frequently exercising independent judgment. Multitask and manage multiple projects and deadlines. Assist the Executive Marketing Director and support the marketing team with marketing and public relations campaigns and projects. Assist with maintaining project timelines and deadlines for the marketing department. Assist with coordinating the production of a wide range of marketing and public relations communications including newsletters, online content, print materials and press releases. Assist with updating and maintaining the marketing department's documentation, budget, databases, media assets, reports, etc. Answer all Marketing calls and distribute accurate messages. Assist with organizing department meetings, sending email notifications, distribute agendas and taking meeting minutes. Assist with special events including production, logistics, print pieces, execution, etc. Schedule work assignments and supervise student workers. Proofread and edit publications and materials for distribution. Communicate with faculty, staff, students and the public both in person and on the telephone in a courteous and helpful manner. Performs other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Marketing.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Demonstrate the technical skills necessary to use a computer and various software programs to perform typing tasks including but not limited to reports, advertisements, contracts, minutes, proposals, presentations, programs and spreadsheets. Proficient in Microsoft Office Software programs, good keyboarding skills, and computer literacy skills. Ability to speak and write effectively and analyze, edit, review, and interpret complex material. Ability to comprehend and interpret college regulations and policies and procedures and apply to specific situations in accordance with established procedures. Ability to work effectively with students, faculty, administrators and staff. Thorough knowledge of the college policies and procedures and the ability to use that information in responding to various situations.POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:Required: Associate's degree in marketing field. Will consider any equivalent combination of experience or training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.Preferred: Bachelor's degree in marketing field. Prior experience in a marketing agency or office.WORKING CONDITIONS: Variances from regular working hours may be necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of the position. Busy working environment with numerous interruptions.SALARY: $37,114. annually (This is a 12 month position to be paid over 12 months)
