The Marketing Specialist plays a vital role in promoting the hospital's services, enhancing its public image, and strengthening community relationships. This position is responsible for developing and implementing marketing and communication strategies that increase awareness of healthcare offerings, encourage community engagement, and support the hospital's mission to improve local health outcomes. Working closely with leadership and clinical teams, the Marketing Specialist ensures that messaging is clear, compassionate, and aligned with the unique needs of a rural population. General Summary of Duties: Cedar County Memorial Hospital is seeking a proactive and community-minded Marketing Specialist to lead and support marketing, communications, and public relations efforts for our rural hospital. The ideal candidate will craft effective messaging, strengthen our brand presence, and help us connect with the local population to promote hospital services, health awareness campaigns, and community initiatives. Job Responsibilities 1) Community Outreach & Engagement Develop and implement outreach strategies to promote hospital services and events within the local community. Collaborate with local businesses, schools, and organizations to build relationships and raise health awareness. 2) Content Creation & Branding Create content for social media, newsletters, brochures, radio advertising, billboards, hospital's digital signage, internal monitors and the hospital website. Maintain consistent branding across all marketing materials. Write patient success stories and highlight hospital achievements. 3) Digital Marketing & Communications Manage and update the hospital's social media platforms and website. Analyze digital marketing metrics and adjust campaigns accordingly. Develop email campaigns and digital newsletters for patients and stakeholders. 4)Event Planning, Organize and promote health fairs, wellness programs, and hospital-sponsored community events. Support internal events for staff appreciation and employee engagement. 5) Media & Public Relations, Serve as a point of contact for local media and help coordinate press releases, interviews, and coverage. Prepare talking points, press kits, and crisis communication materials if needed. 6) Market Research, Conduct surveys and analyze data to understand community health needs and perceptions. Monitor competitor and regional healthcare marketing trends. Qualifications: 2+ years' experience in marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency in social media management tools, Microsoft Office, and basic graphic design (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite). Understanding of rural health challenges and a passion for serving local communities. Ability to work independently and collaboratively with small teams. Preferred Qualifications: Experience working in a healthcare or rural setting. Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and healthcare communications. Knowledge of content management systems (e.g., WordPress) and email marketing platforms (e.g., Constant Contact or Mailchimp). Must have excellent communication skills and follow-through abilities.
