Marketing Principal Associate (Hybrid) at Capital One. The Principal Associate will help shape both short‑term content strategy and long‑term strategic vision, focusing on attracting Card prospects through engaging inbound content, with emphasis on the financial content hub and content‑led SEO program. The role will extend strategy beyond SEO to distribution across additional channels, expand content formats, and deepen customer engagement throughout their journey.

The ideal candidate will turn audience and competitive insights into actionable digital marketing strategies, leverage data to guide decisions, and collaborate with internal and external partners. Success requires comfort in white space, building cross‑functional relationships, and interpreting multiple data types to inform recommendations. An audience‑first mindset is essential, ensuring content strategies are rooted in customer needs and aligned with business goals.

Responsibilities
  • Partner with internal and external teams to select and publish the most relevant audience‑focused content each quarter that drives business outcomes
  • Champion the voice of the customer by ensuring all content addresses specific customer needs and aligns with business objectives
  • Lead the development and execution of a strategic inbound marketing agenda to attract prospects through inbound marketing channels (SEO, Social, Email)
  • Design and execute content testing strategies to optimize creative, distribution and engagement approaches for maximum business impact
  • Leverage insights to shape outbound strategy content recommendations
  • Build and maintain strong partner relationships with internal and external teams to develop high‑quality content
  • Serve as the primary liaison for cross‑functional collaboration with business analysts, marketing and channel teams, brand creative, risk and legal to ensure alignment and seamless execution

  • Excels as a collaborative team player, fostering strong partnerships across internal teams and with external partners
  • Brings experience managing agency relationships, including briefing, reviewing and providing actionable feedback
  • Manages project details, deadlines and shifting priorities with accuracy and accountability
Qualifications
  • Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree or Military Experience
  • At least 3 years of hands‑on experience executing multi‑channel digital marketing campaigns, including content marketing and SEO, on either client side or at agency level
  • At least 3 years of experience leading digital marketing strategies and programs from concepts to execution
  • At least 3 years working with creative partners or agencies, either internally or externally
  • At least 3 years of experience working with cross‑functional teams in a matrixed environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Marketing, Business or Communications
  • At least 3 years of marketing experience in financial services or another highly regulated industry
  • At least 3 years of experience with marketing analytics and optimization
  • At least 3 years leveraging audience insights, market research, and data analytics to develop detailed user profiles and segmentation strategies that inform content, messaging and channel optimization
  • Track record of effectively working autonomously and navigating ambiguity

The minimum and maximum full‑time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Salaries for part‑time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

McLean, VA: $117,300 - $133,900 for Principal Associate, Marketing; Richmond, VA: $106,700 - $121,700 for Principal Associate, Marketing. Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location. The actual annualized salary amount offered will be reflected in the offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non‑discretionary depending on the plan.
