Leidos is seeking a highly skilled Electrical Engineer to join our Maritime Systems Division in Long Beach, MS. This role supports the development and integration of advanced shipboard marine power systems for next-generation manned and unmanned maritime platforms. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on experience in marine electrical systems and proficiency in AutoCAD for schematic and layout design. The ideal candidate will contribute to both new designs and legacy system upgrades for vessels used in commercial, industrial, or defense applications. Experience with harsh environmental considerations, compliance with marine standards, and hands-on commissioning is essential.
Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and develop shipboard electrical power systems, including AC/DC distribution, switchgear, and control systems. Create and modify electrical schematics and layouts using AutoCAD. Ensure compliance with applicable standards such as ABS, DNV, IEEE, USCG, and IMO regulations. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate subsystems into maritime platforms. Support prototype development, testing, and field deployment. Conduct verification and validation activities for marine electrical systems. Prepare detailed technical documentation, including test plans and reports. Troubleshoot and optimize existing systems to improve reliability and performance.
Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field. 5+ years of professional experience in electrical engineering. Proficiency in AutoCAD for electrical design and documentation. Strong understanding of analog/digital circuit design and power distribution. Willingness to travel for field testing and integration. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.
Preferred QualificationsKnowledge of shipboard and marine electrical systems. Familiarity with PLCs (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, etc.), SCADA, and embedded control systems. Familiarity with Altium Designer or similar PCB design and layout tools. Knowledge of MIL-STD electrical design practices. Prior experience supporting DoD or naval programs. Knowledge of cybersecurity principles as applied to industrial control systems and automation environments. Familiarity with shipboard networking protocols (NMEA 2000, Modbus, CANbus).
