It requires hard work, a lot of innovation, enthusiasm and, of course, an abundance of Purple Passion (def. a love of play, bringing play to communities and specific love of Burke and those you work with)!The RoleThe Manufacturing Designer supports Burke's growth by designing, fabricating, and maintaining fixtures used in the production of playground equipment. This role contributes to New Product Development (NPD) and continuous improvement efforts by enhancing safety, quality, performance, and cost-effectiveness of manufacturing processes. The essential functions of the job consist of:Fixture Design & Fabrication Design, fabricate, and maintain fixtures for cutting, bending, drilling, and welding.Develop pneumatic fixtures for robotic welding cells using department standards.Collaborate with manual welders and robot programmers to optimize fixture design for weld access and part placement.Process Improvement & Collaboration Work with NPD Engineering, production staff, and manufacturing techs to improve fixture design processes.Support cost reduction and safety improvement initiatives across departments.Participate in continuous improvement activities and lead fixture design reviews.Documentation & Standards Create and maintain 2D/3D CAD models and graphical work instructions.Own and update the Fixture Log and PCN Manufacturing Tracker.Establish and maintain standard work instructions and inspection methods.Training & Leadership Assist in onboarding and supporting team members.Train others on department design standards and safety practicesOther duties as assigned.TeamworkWe have an awesome team at Burke and the right individual for this role will fit well within our culture of teamwork, straightforward and open communication. Oh, and you need to have a passion for play!Qualifications That Move Us!Required QualificationsMinimum of an associate's degree in engineering, manufacturing, or related field or 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing engineering environment.Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to read engineering drawings.Proficiency in Microsoft Office and 3D CAD software (Autodesk Inventor preferred).Strong math skills including algebra and geometry.Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.Preferred QualificationsExperience with BOMs, routings, and product costing.Familiarity with CNC equipment and robotic welding systems.Experience with ERP systems and inventory management.Burke is proud to be an Equal Employment Opportunity employer.
