We're looking to add a Manufacturing Engineering Manager (PCBA) in Milpitas, CA.

As a Manufacturing Engineering Manager (PCBA), You will:

Job Description:

We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Manager with a strong background in Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA) to lead and manage both the engineering and production operations within our contract manufacturing facility. This role is responsible for driving process excellence, managing a team of engineers and technicians, and ensuring on-time delivery, quality, and continuous improvement across our SMT and PCA operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Engineering Leadership:

  • Lead and mentor a team of process, manufacturing, and test engineers.
  • Oversee new product introduction (NPI), DFM/DFT reviews, and production readiness.
  • Develop and optimize PCBA manufacturing processes including SMT, reflow, wave solder, AOI/X-ray, hand assembly, and conformal coating.
  • Own process capability, yield improvement, and root cause analysis of defects.
  • Drive equipment evaluation, justification, and implementation for capacity and capability improvement.
  • Ensure all engineering documentation (process flows, WI, BOMs, tooling) is up to date and properly maintained.

Production Oversight:

  • Manage daily production activities for SMT and PCA lines to ensure schedule adherence, output, and quality.
  • Coordinate cross-functionally with planning, quality, supply chain, and program management to meet customer expectations.
  • Lead daily production meetings, resolve bottlenecks, and escalate issues when needed.
  • Manage staffing, resource allocation, and performance metrics (FPY, OEE, throughput, line utilization).

Continuous Improvement:

  • Champion Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma initiatives to reduce waste, improve efficiency, and enhance quality.
  • Lead kaizen events, 5S, and standard work initiatives.
  • Implement digital tools (SPC, MES, traceability) to improve visibility and control.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical or Electronics Engineering (or related field). Master's degree preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in PCBA manufacturing with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of SMT processes, IPC standards and industry best practices.
  • Experience with high-mix, low-to-medium volume contract manufacturing environments.
  • Proficient in root cause analysis (8D, Ishikawa, DMAIC).
  • Familiarity with ERP, MES, and engineering change control systems.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Preferred:

  • Experience working directly with customers and supporting audits (ISO, customer, regulatory).
  • Background in automated optical inspection (AOI), X-ray, or ICT.
  • Experience with automation and robotics in PCBA

Yearly Salary Range: $110,0000 - $140,000
