Position Summary

Young & Franklin Tactair seeks to maintain 4 Intern/Co-ops all year round. These positions are ideal for students seeking summer internships and/or co-operative education credits during the academic year. Ideally, we will have 4, full time Intern/Co-ops, each reporting to an experienced ME supporting the following areas: CNC Vertical Mills; CNC Horizontal Mills; Industrial Turbine Assembly & Test; Aerospace Assembly & Test. Actual assignments will vary based upon production requirements, academic schedules, and experiential opportunities.

Responsibilities may include

* Implementation of Automation Projects

* Assist in the design of assembly and test tooling and fixtures

* Work with the manufacturing engineering & production teams in the development of standardized work instructions, methods, and setup sheets from existing assemblies

* Create / design new 2D and 3D tools and holders using CAD software

* Create / modify 2D and 3D representations of tools, components and assemblies

* Develop standards for tracking productivity and efficiency indicators / metrics in the production floor

* Develop MS project schedules to identify and track timing of critical tasks for projects

* Support the implementation of general housekeeping, 5S, TPM & visual management programs in the production floor

* Evaluate manufacturing processing times & identify opportunities for optimization (through line balancing, time + motion studies, etc.)

Education and Experience

* Must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. Person/Permanent Resident Green Card holder.

* Active college student pursuing a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or mechanical engineering technology.

* Strong listening and problem solving skills - a desire to learn from engineers, machinists, and support personnel.

* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

* The primary environment of this position is the manufacturing areas where under certain areas require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields, hearing protection, and proper footwear.
