Summary:

The Managing Attorney overseeing Docketing and eFiling plays a critical role in managing the firm's docketing operations and electronic filing processes. This role requires a deep understanding of legal procedures, deadlines, and electronic filing systems. The Managing Attorney ensures that the firm adheres to all court rules and filing requirements while effectively managing case deadlines and filings.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the maintenance and management of the firm's docketing system to accurately track all case deadlines, court dates, filings, and other legal obligations.
  • Ensure that all case-related deadlines are properly identified, calendared, and communicated to relevant attorneys and staff members.
  • Review and analyze legal documents, court orders, and correspondence to identify and record relevant deadlines and obligations.
  • Establish and enforce policies, procedures, and best practices for docket management to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with applicable rules and regulations.
  • Conduct regular audits and reviews of docketing records to identify any discrepancies, errors, or potential issues, and take corrective action as necessary.
  • Stay updated on changes to court rules, filing requirements, and other legal standards that may impact docket management practices.
  • Manage the firm's electronic filing (eFiling) systems for state and federal courts, administrative agencies, and other relevant entities.
  • Ensure that attorneys and staff are trained on eFiling procedures and software tools.
  • Monitor eFiling requirements and updates from courts and agencies and implement necessary changes to ensure compliance.

Required Skills:

  • Familiarity with electronic filing systems and court e-filing procedures.
  • Experience working with litigation or transactional practice groups preferred.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications, including Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school required.
  • Admission to the bar in the relevant jurisdiction preferred, but not always required.
  • Seven to ten years of experience in docket management or related legal support roles within a law firm or legal department.
  • Strong understanding of legal procedures, court rules, and deadlines.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Leadership and team management experience, with the ability to motivate and mentor staff members.
  • Proficiency with docketing software and other relevant technology tools.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal abilities, with the capacity to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
