Responsibilities

Manager - Sterile Processing

Location: Lakeside Hospital, Omaha, NE

Sterile Processing Managers oversee the daily operations of the Sterile Processing Department. They collaborate with OR Leadership and other departments to meet instrumentation and sterilization needs. They ensure quality service by timely and accurate sterilization of instruments, monitor departmental activities and metrics, manage employee performance and development, and adhere to policies and regulatory standards. They maintain accurate records and are a resource for sterilization needs, following manufacturers' IFUs.

  • Oversees daily operations and staff of the Sterile Processing Department.
  • Has authority to interview, hire, orient, terminate, and evaluate staff.
  • Manages department inventory, including supplies and implants.
  • Sets goals, monitors performance, and provides feedback; administers corrective actions when needed.
  • Works with repair vendors to maintain instrumentation and order replacements.
  • Allocates staffing to meet patient and department needs, collaborating with the Perioperative Director.
  • Performs duties of Sterile Processing Tech I / II.
  • Collaborates on developing and maintaining quality standards with Infection Prevention, Quality, and OR.
  • Participates in meetings and committees.
  • Provides staff education and competency assessments.
  • Monitors productivity and budget variances.
  • Reports issues to the Director.
Qualifications

Associates or Bachelors Degree in a related field and/or five years of experience in Sterile Processing. Certification through CBSPD or IAHCSM (obtained within 6 months of hire).

Pay Range

$32.72 - $47.45 per hour
