You're passionate about supporting teachers and improving instruction—and you believe STEM education is critical to student success. As the Manager of STEM for Uncommon's Brooklyn High Schools, you'll help shape excellent math and science classrooms by coaching teachers, leading professional development, and analyzing student outcomes. Your work will directly support our mission of preparing every student for college success. In this highly collaborative role, you'll work across multiple school teams to coach teachers to build joyful, rigorous classrooms and drive strong student achievement.

Responsibilities

Instructional Coaching & Content Development

  • Coach and develop STEM teachers through regular observation and feedback cycles and planning and data meetings
  • Design and facilitate high-impact professional development, including summer and in-year training and department meetings, to build teacher capacity
  • Model strong instructional practices and help schools plan for and achieve strong student outcomes
  • Analyze student work and data to inform curriculum and instruction decisions
  • Develop and adapt standards-aligned curriculum materials and assessments

Strategic Leadership & Continuous Improvement

  • Use data to identify instructional trends and inform regional academic strategy
  • Partner with school leaders and regional teams to support the implementation of Uncommon's STEM curriculum and assessment program implementation
  • Contribute to long-term planning for STEM content, assessments, and professional learning

School Support & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Help drive organizational learning by sharing best practices across schools and regions
  • Partner with Principals and the recruitment team to support the hiring and onboarding of STEM teachers
  • Coordinate with school operations teams to ensure smooth curriculum and assessment logistics

Qualifications:Qualifications

  • A demonstrated commitment to education equity and Uncommon's mission
  • 3+ years of teaching experience in math or science at the high school level, with strong student results
  • Experience coaching teachers or leading professional development preferred
  • Deep knowledge of math and/or science standards and instruction
  • Strong data analysis skills and a problem-solving orientation
  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in education or related field preferred

Compensation

The full salary range for this role is $91,300-$107,400. Typically, new hires who fully meet all qualifications listed in the job description will start at $96,700. Starting salaries below this reflect candidates with less relevant experience or qualifications. Offers near the top end of the range are reserved for candidates who significantly exceed the qualifications, bringing extensive relevant experience and specialized expertise beyond what is listed.

Salary determinations consider relevant professional experience and tenure, both externally and internally, with Uncommon Schools. Because we value internal growth and longevity, current staff members are not subject to salary caps within this range.
