POSITION SUMMARY

Sony Corporation of America is seeking an individual with experience in State Income Tax to support our global tax department in New York City, NY. The Tax Manager will manage all elements of state income tax compliance, reporting and audits processes. This position will report to the Director of State and Local Taxes.

This is a hybrid role requiring 3 days per week onsite in our NYC office.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare quarterly and annual state income tax provision calculations.
  • Preparation of combined/consolidated/unitary returns and quarterly estimates.
  • Assist in performing research of all state income related tax issues with respect to their impact on Company operations.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of tax strategy.
  • Assist with state income/franchise tax audits, including preparing correspondence and documentation to support questions raised by various state tax authorities.
  • Keep current on state legislative changes and developments.
  • Interact with accounting, finance, and operating business unit teams.
  • Maintain the tax department's compliance calendar.
  • Assist in special tax projects as needed – M&A, modeling the tax legislative changes on state income tax.
  • QUALIFICATIONS FOR POSITION

    Your qualifications and experience should include:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field is required.
  • CPA and/or Masters in Tax preferred.
  • Minimum of 6 -8 years of public accounting and/or corporate tax experience from a large corporation.
  • Solid understanding of book and tax accounting and federal and state income tax concepts.
  • Detail oriented with strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a deadline driven dynamic environment.
  • Proficient with Excel, MS Word, and Corptax Compliance software and CheckPoint/BNA tax research.
  • All candidates must be authorized to work in the US.

  • The anticipated annual base salary for this position is $130,000 to 140,000. This range does not include any other compensation components or other benefits that an individual may be eligible for. The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
