A Brief Overview

The Manager of Outpatient Behavioral Health provides operational, clinical, and strategic leadership across key functions of Children's Nebraska's program. This position ensures coordinated, high-quality behavioral health care is delivered in both outpatient and integrated settings by supporting a multidisciplinary team. The Manager partners with colleagues and leaders to enhance access, promote staff development, and ensure program growth and sustainability in alignment with Children's mission and strategic priorities.

Essential Functions

  • Leadership & Supervision • Provides direct supervision, coaching, and performance evaluations for behavioral health team members. • Supports the professional development of team members and builds a culture of accountability, innovation, and compassion. • Facilitates cross-functional collaboration to ensure seamless integration of behavioral health services across outpatient, integrated, and hospital-based care.

  • Operational Oversight • Oversees daily operations of the program in collaboration with clinical and administrative stakeholders. • Monitors key performance indicators related to access, patient experience, team member engagement, and clinical quality. • Partners with the Director to lead initiatives that streamline intake processes, improve care transitions, and expand access to care.

  • Strategic Planning & Program Development • Collaborates with leadership to identify and implement opportunities for program expansion and improvement. • Supports workforce planning, recruitment, and onboarding of new team members. • Contributes to grant writing, reporting, and external partnership opportunities.

  • Quality & Compliance • Ensures program compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and organizational policies. • Champions evidence-based practices and participates in quality improvement initiatives. • Works closely with finance and business operations to support budget development and monitor productivity benchmarks.

Education Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Healthcare Administration, or related field Required or

  • PhD in Psychology, Social Work, or related field Required

Experience Qualifications

  • 4-6 years of behavioral health experience Required and

  • 1-3 years in a leadership, management, or supervisory role Required and

  • experience in pediatric healthcare, integrated care, or outpatient mental health settings Preferred

Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop multidisciplinary teams.

  • Strong organizational, communication, and strategic planning skills.

  • Knowledge of behavioral health systems, regulatory standards, and evidence-based practices.

  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Independent licensure in a behavioral health discipline (e.g., LIMHP, LICSW, PhD, PsyD, APRN) Upon Hire Preferred
