Merced College is seeking a collaborative and sustainability-minded Manager, Operations to oversee custodial and grounds services across all district sites. This leadership role requires strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, external partners, and community members. The successful candidate will be responsible for daily operations, staff supervision, and implementing environmentally sustainable practices, including water conservation, waste diversion, and landscape management. This position plays a key role in supporting campus facilities through strategic planning, program analysis, and resource allocation. Proficiency with technology-based systems such as computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and sustainability tracking tools is highly desirable. Current focus areas include campus-wide sustainability initiatives, program and staffing assessments, and infrastructure improvements in alignment with institutional goals.

Under the general direction of the Director, Maintenance, Events and Transportation, the Manager, Operations position is responsible for upkeep of college buildings and grounds, and implementing District-wide sustainability practices. In addition, the incumbent assists with special projects and activities related to grounds and custodial operations as needed.
Representative Duties :Any combination of applicable work experience (i.e. project management) with at least five (5) years of management-level experience
License or Certificate:A valid California Class “C” driver's license. Travel to locations throughout the District may be required
Desired Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from an acceptable accredited institution in a related field
Experience with grounds and custodial
Experience in implementing sustainability initiatives such as water conservation, recycling programs, and green procurement
Knowledge of CalRecycle guidelines and environmental reporting frameworks
