Job DetailsJob Location Methodist University Location - Fayetteville, NC Position Type Full Time Staff Description Methodist University Cape Fear Valley Health School of Medicine, located in the vibrant and diverse community of Fayetteville, NC, is poised for growth and innovation as a candidate school with the LCME, with an anticipated start date of summer 2026 for its charter class. Our mission is bold yet vital: to prepare the next generation of socially accountable, equity-focused, community-engaged physician leaders committed to reducing health disparities and improving outcomes in southeastern North Carolina and beyond. We are looking for a proactive, resourceful, self-directed, and highly organized Manager of the Research Office. The Manager of the Research Office will report to the Associate Dean of Research and will oversee the operational management of the Research office to support and advance the research mission of the school of medicine. The position strengthens departmental research capabilities, facilitates collaborations with external organizations, and provides guidance to faculty and students on research opportunities. Key Responsibilities: Communicate Research Information and Assist with Research Opportunities:
- Communicate research resources, funding opportunities, awards, publications, and events to faculty and students via listservs, newsletters, meetings, and workshops.
- Develop orientation materials for new faculty and students to introduce them to institutional research resources
- Create and disseminate a regular research newsletter summarizing deadlines, achievement, and opportunities
- Oversee development, maintenance, and timely updates for the Research Office website.
- Organize and support the Annual Student Research Day.
Reporting and Evaluation:
- Provide regular reports to leadership on faculty/student development, research activities, and institutional research needs.
- Assist the Associate Dean of Research and Research Committee in managing internal grant programs and research-related reimbursements.
- Evaluate research initiatives and recommend improvements to enhance engagement and output.
Cross-Departmental/institutional Collaboration and Coordination:
- Partner with internal departments to ensure alignment and integration of research systems and services.
- Identify and coordinate shared research infrastructure and services (e.g., RedCap, Statistical support)
- Serve as a liaison with external universities, institutes, and community organizations to promote collaborative research.
- Collaborate with the Associate Dean to implement system that enhance research access, support, education, and satisfaction.
Policy/Procedure Development and Implementation:
- Assist in the development and implementation of research related policies, including those related to research mentorship, student research, and compliance.
- Ensure that institutional policies align with strategic goals and current regulations.
Qualifications Required Qualifications:
- Education: Master's degree in a health related field. A bachelor's degree with significant research administration experience may be considered.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years in medical research management or equivalent; experience supporting graduate or professional students preferred.
- Skills:
- Familiarity with academic research operations, policy development, and project management.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite. Working knowledge of various research software is preferred.
- Detail oriented with strong problem-solving abilities.
- Working knowledge of medical terminology is preferred.
- Communication: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work across diverse teams.
