Overview: MV Transportation is seeking a Manager of Safety Operations who will play a pivotal role in implementing safety programs and procedures that comply with State and Federal regulations, as well as corporate and client policies. This hands-on position will be responsible for overseeing the Drive Cam and OSHA/CDL initiatives at the division level, ensuring all operators are up-to-date with training requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and update all safety manuals, programs, policies, and practices to align with the needs of operating divisions.
- Act as the subject matter expert in EPA, OSHA, and CDL compliance and regulations.
- Verify that all new hires fulfill the necessary qualifications, including background checks and DMV evaluations.
- Utilize Safety technology tools to analyze trends, examine results, and formulate plans to decrease and prevent future safety incidents.
- Bilingual in Spanish is advantageous.
- Oversee the effective and consistent management of Corporate Safety Incentives and programs, including the assignment of Safety Points.
- Foster a cohesive Safety Culture across all locations, incorporating operations, safety, and maintenance departments, and emphasizing teamwork and individual responsibility.
- Ensure all related audits are successfully conducted, including those by corporate staff, client representatives, and state and federal regulatory agencies.
- Lead the division in safety training, covering both classroom instruction and behind-the-wheel training, in alignment with corporate and client specifications for safe passenger transportation.
- Review and analyze all reports of vehicular, passenger, and employee accidents/incidents to determine causes, preventability, and identify trends for future training efforts.
- Provide expertise in the hiring process for safety department exempt employees.
- Ensure that project training materials are current, supplies are available, and inventories are maintained efficiently.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in the transportation industry.
- Proven record of driving experience without accidents or injuries for at least one year.
- Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
- Able to thrive in a fast-paced work environment.
- Strong communication and decision-making abilities.
- Demonstrated leadership skills.
- Excellent attendance history.
- Extensive experience in transportation.
- Experience in teaching, instructing, or public speaking.
- Proficient computer skills.
