Primary FunctionReporting to the Senior Director of Philanthropy, the Manager of Philanthropy. The Senior Manager plays a critical role in deepening donor engagement, expanding BGCC's base of support, and increasing philanthropic investment in the organization. This position leads the effort to engage current supporters, cultivate new supporters, and stewardship efforts across individual, corporate, and foundation giving.
Primary FunctionReporting to the Senior Director of Philanthropy, the Manager of Philanthropy. The Senior Manager plays a critical role in deepening donor engagement, expanding BGCC's base of support, and increasing philanthropic investment in the organization. This position leads the effort to engage current supporters, cultivate new supporters, and stewardship efforts across individual, corporate, and foundation giving.With a focus on relationship building and revenue growth, the Manager of Philanthropy oversees outreach to current and prospective donors, using innovative approaches to strengthen engagement and maximize giving from corporations, foundations, and individuals. This role works closely with the Senior Director of Philanthropy and provides strategic partnership to the Philanthropy Coordinator to ensure alignment with organizational fundraising goals.KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities)
- Manage a portfolio of corporate, foundation, and individual donors and prospects, executing tailored cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies; maintain accurate documentation of all activity.
- Grow annual revenue from portfolio of donors through relationship-driven fundraising and strategic moves management, with an emphasis on long-term engagement.
- In partnership with the Senior Director of Philanthropy and the Philanthropy Coordinator, oversee the grant submission calendar, ensuring timely delivery of proposals, reports, and gift acknowledgements.
- Lead cross-departmental grants meetings to align priorities, share updates, and ensure effective execution.
- Collaborate with the Senior Director of Philanthropy to identify and pursue revenue opportunities, including corporate cause market campaigns and program sponsorships.
- Identify and pursue new government funding opportunities, develop a plan to cultivate the support of government decision makers, and lead coordinated grant submission efforts.
- Serve as the liaison to Club Councils, supporting volunteer leaders and Club staff in setting and achieving goals that align with BGCC's strategic priorities.
- Partner with the Marketing and Communications team to engage new alumni in BGCC's alumni program and develop customized donor journeys that convert alumni into active supporters.
- Manage the corporate volunteer program, designing impactful opportunities that engage donors with youth in meaningful ways.
- Serve as the liaison to the programs team, attending their monthly meetings and providing a program highlight synopsis document to the Advancement team. Develop stewardship touchpoints from these highlights that Advancement team members can utilize in their personalized outreach to donors.
- Oversee BGCA passthrough grants and partnerships, ensuring proper documentation, reporting, and execution.
- Lead BGCC's peer-to-peer marathon fundraising program, cultivating and stewarding runners and grow revenue annually.
- Apply creativity and an entrepreneurial mindset to design and implement innovative stewardship and donor touchpoints.
- Utilize a continuous quality improvement plan to build on prior successes and ensure future revenue growth.
- Contribute to a strong, collaborative Advancement team culture through active participation and shared leadership.
- Demonstrate professionalism, discretion and alignment with BGCC values in all interactions.
- Perform other related duties as requested.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree required from accredited college or university.
- 5+ years of progressive experience in fundraising.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Adherence to deadlines, strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Experience in team-based, cross-functional work environments with effective and respectful communication skills.
- Generate and maintain confidential and sensitive files and information.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and to problem-solve with limited supervision.
- Ability to prioritize and promptly respond to donor and key stakeholder inquiries.
- Knowledge of the mission, objectives, policies, programs, and procedures of BGCC; and the principles and practices of a non-profit organization.
- Demonstrated experience in the execution of large-scale meetings and events.
- Have knowledge and experience in fundraising techniques, particularly major gift fundraising.
- Be goal-driven to initiate donor visits and fundraising calls.
- Display a positive attitude, show concern for people and community, demonstrate leadership self-confidence, sound judgment and good listening ability.
- Possess the skills to work with and motivate staff, board members, and other volunteers.
- Demonstrated organizational and project management abilities.
- Demonstration of ability to communicate with different groups.
- Successful supervisory experience.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, Excel etc.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITION
- Spend time both at the Club Support Center and at the Clubs
- Must have reliable, insured private transportation
- Must pass criminal background check, which includes Livescan fingerprints
Physical Requirements/Work EnvironmentNormal internal office environment. Occasional need to travel to club locations in Chicago. Ability to bend, squat, climb stairs, and lift frequently. Ability to lift to 25 pounds occasionally.Seniority level
