Summary

The Ocean Export Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of the export process for ocean cargo, including coordination with freight forwarders, shipping lines, customs brokers, and other service providers. This role requires strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, as well as a deep understanding of ocean freight logistics and regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee the ocean export process, including preparation of shipping documents, customs clearance, and booking with shipping lines.
  • Coordinate with freight forwarders, shipping lines, customs brokers, and other service providers to ensure efficient and timely delivery of cargo.
  • Manage relationships with customers, vendors, and other third-party service providers to ensure the highest level of service and customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and laws, including customs regulations and trade laws.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to improve efficiency and quality of service delivery.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to reduce costs, improve service quality, and enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators, such as cargo delivery times, costs, and quality.
  • Educational background / Work experience

  • A bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field is required.
  • At least 5 years of experience in freight forwarding, logistics, or a related field is required.
  • Prior experience in ocean exports and supervisory experience is highly desirable.
  • Skills & Competencies

  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of logistics and supply chain management principles.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.

  • This role typically involves supervising a team of ocean export coordinators and other support staff.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with leading ocean cargo logistics software and systems.
  • Familiarity with ocean freight regulations, customs requirements, and export controls.
  • Knowledge of shipping routes and schedules.
  • Language skills

  • Fluency in English is required.
  • Knowledge of additional languages is a plus.
  • Computer Literacy

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with logistics software and systems is required.
