Job Description: As a First Line Mechanical Engineering Manager, you will hold a dual-role position, managing a team of engineers and performing individual work on a program. You should be a skilled influencer, motivator, and leader capable of growing your team while advancing your own career in engineering and management.

Essential Functions:
  • Application of domain expertise:
    • Maintain and apply technical skills through guidance, collaboration, or individual tasks.
    • Define and improve development processes and best practices.
    • Ensure staff adhere to best practices and quality standards.
    • Oversee proposal quality and estimates.
  • Resource management and planning:
    • Support staffing, labor, and resource planning.
    • Participate in hiring and team morale management.
    • Support succession planning and talent development.
  • Employee administration and management:
    • Conduct performance management and goal setting.
    • Lead performance improvement initiatives.
    • Support recognition activities and merit recommendations.
    • Resolve conflicts within the team.
  • Career development:
    • Support professional growth of team members through training, mentoring, and new assignments.
    • Foster a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering or related, with minimum 9 years combined experience, or Master's with 7 years, or 13 years of experience in lieu of a degree.
    • Experience with CAD, mechanical design, GD&T, aerospace alloys, and mechanical design reviews.
    • Experience with engineering estimates, project planning, risk management, and cross-functional collaboration.
    • Ability to obtain a US Security clearance.
    Preferred Skills:
    • Prior engineering management experience, aerospace/defense background, specific technical expertise (e.g., avionics, cryocoolers), proficiency in SolidWorks, root cause analysis, and strong communication skills.
