Job Title: Manager, Mechanical EngineeringJob Code: 24782Location: Mason, OHSchedule: 9/80Job Description: As a First Line Mechanical Engineering Manager, you will hold a dual-role position, managing a team of engineers and performing individual work on a program. You should be a skilled influencer, motivator, and leader capable of growing your team while advancing your own career in engineering and management.
Essential Functions:- Maintain and apply technical skills through guidance, collaboration, or individual tasks.
- Define and improve development processes and best practices.
- Ensure staff adhere to best practices and quality standards.
- Oversee proposal quality and estimates.
- Support staffing, labor, and resource planning.
- Participate in hiring and team morale management.
- Support succession planning and talent development.
- Conduct performance management and goal setting.
- Lead performance improvement initiatives.
- Support recognition activities and merit recommendations.
- Resolve conflicts within the team.
- Support professional growth of team members through training, mentoring, and new assignments.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement.
- Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering or related, with minimum 9 years combined experience, or Master's with 7 years, or 13 years of experience in lieu of a degree.
- Experience with CAD, mechanical design, GD&T, aerospace alloys, and mechanical design reviews.
- Experience with engineering estimates, project planning, risk management, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Ability to obtain a US Security clearance.
- Prior engineering management experience, aerospace/defense background, specific technical expertise (e.g., avionics, cryocoolers), proficiency in SolidWorks, root cause analysis, and strong communication skills.
