Base pay range
$175,000.00/yr - $315,000.00/yr
DescriptionAs the Manager, Property Risk Engineering, you will lead the Major Accounts, Property & Marine, Equipment Breakdown (EB) and Marine engineering teams, which include Inland Marine Engineering, Ocean Marine Engineering, and Equipment Breakdown Engineering. Deliver and develop products and services, and exercise oversight and control of all operational and administrative activities in the United States and Canada.Work with senior underwriting management to formulate strategies and plans to achieve business objectives for the combined Marine and Equipment Breakdown organization. Collaborate with and advise senior management on risk assessment, profitability, and strategy implementation. Direct and monitor performance of assigned operations.Develop, Manages And Directs Team Delivery Of Specific Equipment Breakdown And Marine Risk Engineering Products And Services For a Combined $600 Million Book Of Business Which Includes
- Equipment Breakdown - Responsible for all jurisdiction inspections of boilers and pressure vessels in compliance with state, county, city and provincial laws in the US and Canada. Delivers all EB risk evaluations to underwriting;
- Ocean Marine - Marine General Liability (primary and excess), Bumbershoot, Hull, P&I, Cargo, Project Cargo, Marine Builder's Risk, and related marine lines;
- Inland Marine -Builder's Risk, Contractor's Equipment, Domestic Logistics, CECR, etc.
Responsible for the delivery of internal and external training programs as well as the research, development and maintenance of engineering policies, procedures, and technology.Job Responsibilities
- Develops, manages and directs delivery of Marine & EB Risk Engineering products and services expected and required of a top global property carrier. Ensure accurate and realistic risk assessments, account reviews and loss analysis are made to reduce maximum exposure and loss volatility to MA-Marine.
- Collaborates with underwriting management to ensure alignment of risk engineering strategies and to provide superior and cost-effective risk assessment and loss prevention services to external customers and internal stakeholders.
- Enhance technical expertise and capabilities in Natural Catastrophe hazard identification, imminent storm warning notifications and risk reduction strategies with the goal of preventing or minimizing losses through proactive and effective loss prevention measures.
- Develops and implements risk assessment and loss reduction strategies, staffing models, procedures, tools and technical expertise to gain recognition and increased penetration in the global market.
- 5. Ensures that effective processes are in place to select, develop and retain talented risk engineering professionals that have the technical abilities and skill sets required to assess and service marine & EB accounts.
- Develops and delivers technical research and internal and external training that supports the business plan and operational strategy of MA-Marine.
- Drives the development, implementation and maintenance of effective technology to collect, organize, analyze and report information to underwriters, brokers, customers, and reinsurers, and to assist in Natural Catastrophe modeling and exposure accumulation analysis.
- Contributes to the short and long-term business planning process by developing an annual business plan and contributing to the Business Unit's long-term strategy.
Responsible for ensuring our continued accreditation, and ongoing alignment with policies and procedures to ensure we can continue to perform jurisdictional inspection.Qualifications
- Extensive knowledge of commercial property engineering and industry trends
- Demonstrated ability to build a strong management team
- Plan and organize work through that team
- Develop effective relationships
- Create alignment within the organization
- Continually manage and improve process and the ability to adapt to new situations
- Master's degree, engineering certifications and at least 10 years of related experience, some of which should be in a management capacity
