Position OverviewProvides operational leadership for Microbiology and Molecular testing services, overseeing 24/7 laboratory operations to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of services in compliance with all applicable laws, standards, and regulations. Plans and allocates resources to meet clinical demands and operational goals. Develops and implements protocols, procedures, and practices in alignment with departmental, affiliate, and system standards, as well as regulatory and accrediting agency requirements. Leads the recruitment, hiring, and performance management of laboratory staff, fostering a high-performing and compliant team environment. Oversees, and may directly supervise, the daily operations of the Microbiology and Molecular Laboratory, ensuring seamless coordination across teams and affiliates. Effectively prioritizes workload and resolves operational issues to maintain uninterrupted, high-quality service delivery. Provides local oversight for quality-related activities, which may include staff training and competency assessments, equipment validation and maintenance, test system quality control, management of non-conforming events, lab licensure/accreditation, customer service, and continuous process improvement. Develops and manages capital and operating budgets, ensuring financial performance through strategic resource planning and cost-effective utilization of personnel, supplies, and equipment.
EducationBachelor's: Biology, Clinical Laboratory Science or Healthcare related field. or equivalent education/experience
Certification & LicensureCLSL-Licensed Clinical Lab Scientist

Pay Range is $68.59 to $109.75 / hour The salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location. This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential applicable by area where the position may be filled. Compensation takes into account several factors including but not limited to a candidate's experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, department equity, training and organizational needs. Base pay is just one piece of the total rewards program offered by Sutter Health. Eligible roles also qualify for a comprehensive benefits package.
