Position OverviewBurlington is hiring an Inventory Control Manager in our San Bernardino, CA, distribution center. This is an on-site position.Step into a high-impact leadership role where you'll drive excellence across inventory control, compliance, and strategic operations at a fast-paced, high-volume distribution center. As the Inventory Control Manager at Burlington's Distribution Center, you'll lead key teams responsible for inventory accuracy, cycle counting, shrink analysis, and financial reporting. From month-end closes and SOX compliance to system enhancements and cross-functional partnerships with Finance, Operations, and Supply Chain, you'll be at the center of operational integrity and efficiency.   • Manage the activities, task priorities, work assignments, staffing and equipment resources for the Inventory Control, Cycle Count, Accuracy & Compliance, and Inventory Research teams.
  • Coordinate and manage the month end and year-end inventory processes and financial accruals for the distribution centers.
  • Safeguard assets and ensure accurate valuation of inventory through the identification of inventory related issues, investigations, root cause analysis and the correction of deficiencies. Continuous performance and monitoring of all applicable reports.
  • Report and monitor inventory shrinkage against annual goals while participating in the analysis and strategic alignment with operational partners to meet business objectives and deliver quantifiable results through process improvement initiatives.
  • Analysis and correction of inventory shrinkage and allocation between the distribution centers and respective stores related to receiving adjustments and correction of store shipments and receipts.
  • Establish and maintain “Best Practices” related to inventory control functions for the distribution centers by reviewing operational processes, developing and testing system enhancements, creating and updating standard operating procedures and providing ad hoc reporting to support Supply Chain, Finance and Operations.
  • Partner with Finance and Operations to effectively resolve vendor payment issues with distribution center receiving departments while providing feedback to Operations regarding the receiving function.
  • Coordinate, process, approve and communicate inventory adjustments related to receiving errors and other inventory related functions to correct and properly report distribution center and store inventory.
  • Develop, implement and monitor Key Performance Indicators, Internal Controls and Record Retention while partnering with internal and external auditors in documenting and testing financial and operational controls to ensure compliance and remediation of deficiencies related to SOX (Sarbanes Oxley) controls.
  • Responsible for provisioning/de-provisioning user access and performing periodic user access reviews to ensure compliance with user access security standards.
  • Partner with the Marketing, Buying and Allocations groups to coordinate and oversee the fulfillment and shipment of products sold or donated to charitable organizations.
  • Manage the identification, reporting, financial adjustment and liquidation or disposal of overstock, discontinued, and damaged products, in-house, in-transit and at the pool points.
  • Member of the Disaster Recovery team responsible for inspection and valuation of inventory loss for financial reporting and operational coordination related to accidents and natural disasters.
  • Responsible for managing employee resources through hiring, training, evaluation, coaching, developing, disciplining and termination.
  • Accountable for department budget.
You'll Come With
  • Bachelor's degree or a combination of education and experience
  • 5+ years' experience leading in a high-volume distribution environment.
  • Ability to lead and manage a rapidly changing, fast paced, collaborative environment and culture
  • Ability to analyze results, develop conclusions, and implement strategies
  • Strong balance of operational and business aptitude and comprehension
  • Ability to manage and partner with resources across various business units
  • Ability to interact with all levels, vendors, carriers, 3rd party providers and internal stakeholders.
  • Proficient with Microsoft applications (i.e. Excel, Word, Outlook, Visio, Power Point)
  • Flexible work schedule that may be required during peak season for non-standard work hours.
  • Knowledge of Inventory applications (i.e. WMS / Manhattan, Synapse, Oracle, CMS, Dematic) preferred.
  • Inventory experience in a retail environment preferred.
  • Knowledge of SQL Developer preferred.
