Job Summary: The Body Shop Manager is responsible for developing business through insurance adjusters, customers, and other sources to assure an adequate sales volume, provide a reasonable department operating profit and maintain certain customer satisfaction standards while controlling expenses. They direct the activities of body shop employees in performing body shop repairs, including meeting time schedules and productivity levels, and maintaining quality standards. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: (Additional duties as assigned) Management-related:
  • Forecast goals and objectives for the department and strive to meet them.
  • Strive for harmony and teamwork with all other departments.
  • Prepare and administer an annual operating budget for the body shop.
  • Attend managers' meeting
  • Understand, keep abreast of and comply with federal, state and local regulations that affect body shop regulations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA, right-to-know, etc.
Personnel-related:
  • Hire, train, motivate, counsel, and monitor the performance of all body shop staff.
  • Direct and schedule the activities of all body shop employees.
  • Provide technical assistance as needed.
  • Conduct meetings with body shop employees to discuss activities and problems of mutual interest.
  • Monitor body shop technician's payroll records.
Customer- and Department-related and other:
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with several insurance adjusters.
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with customers to encourage repeat and referral business.
  • Supervise all activities of and communication with the wrecker service.
  • Greet all customers promptly and give fair estimates on costs and time required for bodywork.
  • Break down estimates into labor and parts before the job is started so that Repair Technicians are aware of time allowances.
  • Quality- check completed jobs.
  • Handle all customer complaints.
  • Keep abreast of new equipment and tools available and recommended purchases.
  • Ensure that work areas and customer waiting areas are kept clean.
  • Account for all documents; ensure that none are missing.
  • Prepare final billing for completed repair orders.
  • Collect accounts receivable for body repair work.
  • Follow up on parts department orders to ensure parts availability.
  • Maintain CSI in top 10% of group.
  • Adhere to dealership policies and procedures set forth by dealership management and manufacturer specifications.
Required Experience and Education: High School Diploma or General Educational Diploma (GED)
  • Two years of experience in an auto body repair facility.
  • Working knowledge of body repair methods.
  • One year of supervisory experience.

Equipment, Machines and Software Used:
  • Computer software: Microsoft Office to include Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and CDK.
Physical and Mental Requirements:
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, use hands to finger, grasp, handle or feel, push, pull, reach, crouch, bend, kneel, climb and perform repetitive motions of the hands and/or wrists.
  • Mental and visual attention required to perform work dealing primarily with preparing and analyzing data and figures, using a computer terminal, and reading.
Physical Exertion:
  • Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
  • Light exertion can involve sitting, walking and/or standing most of the time.
Environmental Conditions:
  • Will be exposed to noise, vibrations, dust, exhaust fumes, paint and other hazardous or nonhazardous materials.
Hazards and Safety Precautions:
  • Hazards: Slips, trips and falls, ergonomic injuries, and occasional lifting.
  • Safety Precautions:Breaks are encouraged to allow for stretching and training is provided covering slips, trips, and falls, safe lifting and stretching techniques.
