Responsibilities

The Manager and Senior Organizational Development Consultant (Manager and Senior Consultant) works in support of TSNE's capacity building efforts and brings a values-based approach to working with client organizations and across the variety of TSNE's organizational development consulting and training services. This position is responsible for establishing and forwarding TSNE s philosophical and strategic approach to organizational development consulting. The manager and senior consultant is responsible for developing and managing systems, structures, processes, and outcomes for the organizational development consulting to be successful. The Senior Consultant serves as a primary point of contact for clients and ensures consistency and quality of OD practices that align with the needs of the nonprofit sector. The Manager and Senior Consultant also serves as a lead content designer, consultant, and facilitator for a portfolio of cohort learning and OD client engagements.

This position works collaboratively and in partnership with a variety of both internal and external stakeholders to implement the OD development consulting strategy. This position will lead and supervise members of the OD team and work closely with TSNE s consulting and training team, key TSNE departments, and clients.

Essential Functions

Strategy, Learning, and Development 50%

  • Partner with the leaders of each consulting focus area and the Director of Consulting and Training to align practices across the department.
  • Ensure fidelity to organizational development consulting strategy and objectives, and proactively identify the need to adjust plans to ensure responsiveness.
  • Manage workflow, staffing, and best practices for OD consulting processes to ensure delivery of exceptional consulting services to meet the needs of consulting engagements; ensuring resources are in place for success.
  • Provide team strategy and direction toward the creation and execution of comprehensive OD consulting strategies.
  • Work in partnership with the Director across other TSNE departments to ensure that OD specific systems meet varied client, consultant, and team needs.
  • Continuous assessment of the effectiveness of various OD consulting frameworks, processes, and structures and make refinements where needed.
  • Develop OD consulting communications and marketing strategy, evaluation strategy, and technology strategy with respective TSNE departments and the Director of Consulting and Training.
  • Stay abreast of new OD practices, working with the OD team to integrate their use into consulting practices and refining as needed.
  • Develop and disseminate tools, resources, and working papers to advance the capacity building practices of TSNE.
  • Serve as a thought partner and work in collaboration with Consulting and Training Team members, as well as with other TSNE departments to advance program planning and to lift up and share lessons learned.
  • Participate in TSNE-wide projects and initiatives as needed and approved by supervisor.
  • Provide assistance, guidance, and coaching support for direct reports.
  • Ensure internal direct reports have professional development plans in place as directed by TSNE HR; develop performance goals collaboratively with direct supports.
  • Ensure alignment between individual performance expectations and departmental and TSNE goals and that performance goals are clearly communicated and current; provide constructive and timely feedback towards performance expectations, goals and success.
  • Conduct performance evaluation utilizing established TSNE HR systems and policies.
  • Oversee the OD team s portfolio of consulting projects and clients; ensuring alignment of resources for successful completion.
  • Engage with the external OD consultants as needed; provide partnering, training, guidance and support for consultants to help ensure successful implementation on OD client projects.
Consulting and Training 50%
  • Plan, design, and deliver consulting and training engagements for non-profit organizations and other clients through a process consulting approach, supporting organizational development and capacity building processes, including, but not limited to organizational assessments, strategic planning, sustainability planning, board development, and support for executive transitions consulting projects.
  • Conduct intake and scoping calls with prospective clients.
  • Engage with prospective clients to plan and prepare proposals/scopes of work, including fee estimates.
  • Ensure assigned consulting and training engagements are well managed and meet varied client, consulting engagement, and consulting team needs.
  • Work with the OD team to ensure resources needed for assigned engagements are available.
  • Ensure that high quality, responsive, culturally competent consulting and training services are delivered.
  • Ensure that consulting and training engagements are designed with consistent attention to issues of diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging.
  • Work collaboratively with consulting and training staff to design and deliver training on topics related to organizational development.
  • Manage and update information and communications within TSNE databases regarding assigned consulting and training engagements.
  • Co-lead, facilitate and support cohort learning programs.
Complete other tasks and projects related to the position, as needed. Qualifications

  • Six or more years of experience working in leadership roles in community-based nonprofit organization(s) is preferred.
  • Excellent business development, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience managing a team, including direct reports and indirect supports and consultants.
  • Strategic in focus and approach.
  • Prior experience in management and/or organizational development consulting is required.
  • Prior experience with complex non-profit organizational structures.
  • Prior experience implementing complex organizational development interventions and capacity building support.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of and experience in implementing diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEIB) theory and practices, leading on DEIB initiatives, and facilitating DEIB conversations.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of and experience in implementing organizational theory and practices, assessments, group dynamics and facilitation techniques especially in a nonprofit context is required.
  • Experience supporting and consulting with external groups, organizations and clients is required.
  • Proven success designing and facilitating highly interactive, adult-learning oriented trainings, workshops and/or interventions is required.
  • Excellent interpersonal, project management and leadership skills are necessary.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are necessary.
  • Commitment to participatory management and shared leadership practices is necessary.
  • Experience and skill working with a diverse range of stakeholders is required.
  • Demonstrable skills in utilizing culturally competent frameworks is required.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple, competing priorities is required.

Physical Demands/Work Environment

The physical demands described for this position are that of a typical office environment. Reasonable accommodations will be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the functions. Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time in front of a computer screen is an essential aspect of the position. There may be a need to lift and/or move materials or equipment.

Location: Work will be performed between our office located at the NonProfit Center at 89 South Street, Suite 700, Boston, MA 02111 and your home office. This position is required to be onsite for in-person client engagements and some meetings with TSNE staff, funders, and program participants, which may take place outside of the TSNE office and may require to be onsite more regularly with advanced notice.

Schedule: This position is full-time at 37.5 hours per week and hours are flexible within reason.

Compensation and Benefits

Compensation: The starting salary for this position is $107,540.00 annually, paid bi-weekly at $4,136.15.
