Description: A mammography tech is responsible for the operation of dedicated mammography equipment to perform radiologic procedures. Typical duties include operating equipment, applying prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis, assisting physicians/radiologists with breast localizations and procedures, and administering radiographic opaque media.
Duties and Responsibilities: - Maintains high standard of technical skills in modality by: Performs diagnostic and screening mammographic studies.
- Performs mammograms to ACR standards.
- Appropriate views for exam as per radiologist/department protocol
- Ability to perform acceptable alternatives when patient condition requires them
- Ability to physically assist patients to obtain high quality mammogram.
- Applies prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis
- Assists physicians/radiologists with specialized procedures
- Maintains working knowledge of mammography equipment.
- Completes exam paperwork, coding for billing, patient data for tracking, patient history.
- Responds to information requests from patients, scheduling, or other departments.
- This position may require you to work in a hospital, urgent care, or clinical setting.
- Performs other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications: - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification, (M) Mammography preferred
- Licensed technologist in the appropriate state, if applicable
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA)
- Vaccinated for COVID-19 based on local, state and /or federal law or regulations (unless a medical or religious exemption is approved).
- Vaccinated for Influenza, seasonal
