MAINTENANCE WORKER – SOLID WASTE - County of Dorchester South Carolina : Job Details

The purpose of the class is to perform semi-skilled and unskilled work in the maintenance and/or construction of County roads and drainage systems; to drive and operate trucks; to maintain assigned equipment; and to perform other work as required. This class works according to set procedures under close supervision. Duties Performs semi-skilled and unskilled work in the construction and maintenance of County roads, driveways, sidewalks and curbs, rights-of-way, stormwater drainage systems and facilities. May operate dump trucks and light trucks, back hoe, rollers, tractors, mowers, ditch digger, stump cutter, etc.; uses hand and power tools in various manual tasks as required. Manually loads/unloads materials onto vehicles. Stakes out, clears and grades areas for road construction. Constructs and repairs roads. Cuts grass. Recycles paper from Schools and County Offices; transports recyclables and cooking oil to convenience sites. Stacks and wraps electronic waste.
