Safety/Security Sensitive Designation:This is a safety/security sensitive position for purposes of the Arkansas Medical Marijuana Amendment. 1. Provide good customer service to both internal and external customers, maintain positive and effective working relationships with other City employees (especially members of his or her own team), and have regular and reliable attendance that is non-disruptive. 2. Perform semi-skilled physical labor and operation of light and heavy duty equipment in the construction, maintenance and repair of park facilities. 3. Mow grass and trim weeds on park grounds. 4. Prune, trim or remove trees. 5. Maintain equipment by cleaning, changing oil and air filters and performing simple repairs. 6. Pick up trash on park grounds and trails, empty trash bins and clean restrooms. 7. Remove snow and ice from downtown square area and parks and trails. 8. Set-up and clean-up for public events held in City parks. 9. Assist as assigned in all aspects of the division including grounds maintenance, facilities maintenance, equipment maintenance, athletic field maintenance and urban forestry. 10. Install holiday lights which typically involves working from aerial lifts and ladders. 11. Perform other duties as assigned. Secondary Job Duties

  • Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED; one year of prior related experience preferred.
  • Must possess a valid Driver's License.
  • Must successfully pass criminal background check, including but not limited to convictions, guilty pleas, or no contest pleas to violent offenses, theft offenses, offenses against children, and any offense that would qualify to prevent a person from obtaining an Arkansas teaching certificate (A.C.A. 6-17-410).
  • Effectively communicate with others orally and in writing.
  • Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of distance.
  • Must be able to operate various hand and power tools, mowers, bush hogs, utility vehicles, trailers, tractors, backhoes, chalker, irrigation systems, scoreboard controllers, blowers, weed-eaters, trimmers, chainsaw, aerial lift, grinder and chipper.
  • While performing the functions of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate effectively. The employee regularly is required to stand, walk and sit. The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • While performing the functions of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions and risk of vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
