General Purpose:
Ensure that all equipment is operating effectively and efficiently, including preventative maintenance, overhauls, modification, fabrication, welding, and mechanical and electrical troubleshooting.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform preventative maintenance and repairs of production and processing equipment as well as utility related equipment in compliance with all safety procedures
- Support the installation of new equipment, support and implementation of preventive maintenance program
- Assist the machine operators with training or troubleshooting to minimize equipment downtime
- Ensure all repairs are documented
- Keep management informed of any maintenance issues
- Complete work orders as assigned
- Dedicate effort to safety as we expect every employee to leave work in the same condition as they arrive
- Follow all DFA good manufacturing practices (GMP) and work in a manner consistent with all corporate regulatory, food safety, quality, and sanitation requirements
- Exhibit the values and ethics of Dairy Farmers of America through honesty, discretion, and sound judgment
- Adhere to all DFA Quality, Safety and GMP policies and procedures and report any nonconformity
- Attend required training, including but not limited to Safety, GMP, Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP), and Safe Quality Foods (SQF)
- Work schedule includes on call and weekend shifts

Minimum Requirements:
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
- 4 years of process manufacturing environment maintenance work experience
- Certification and/or License – 2 year formal mechanical education certificate preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and company computer systems, specifically SAP
- Knowledge of machine shop equipment
- Knowledge of pneumatics, solenoid valves, and air cylinders
- Knowledge of PLC's, Calibration of flow valves, level controllers, VFD's, Photocells, Limit Sensors etc.
- Competent in troubleshooting electrical issues using schematic diagrams on a variety of equipment.
- Skill in proficient computer usage
- Able to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing
- Able to work in collaboration effectively and foster good teamwork
- Able to follow directions and meet deadlines
- Able to perform all required preventative, productive, predictive, and scheduled maintenance procedures
- Able to perform task and duties without constant supervision
- Able to understand the basic types of controls used in the plant and how they affect the process
- Able to perform minor electrical work (i.e. change pump motors and diagnose motor control problems)
- Able to use standard maintenance tools
- Able to perform routine repairs and minor projects from planning to installation
- Able to perform routine preventive maintenance on a variety of equipment, identify any abnormal conditions, and maintain appropriate records
- Able to perform basic welding for repair and fabrication (mig/tig/stick)
- Able to follow process control computer variables, schematics, and diagnose system problems
- Able to assist other mechanics on more complicated repairs in a safe and useful manner
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English
