Position: Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor (Metals Experience)

Location: Pennsylvania

Salary Range: $90,000 – $95,000

Employment Type: Full-Time

About the Role

We are currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Maintenance Supervisor with a strong background in heavy industry to join our client's team in Pittsburgh, PA. This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on professional looking to make a direct impact on equipment performance, reliability, and manufacturing efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze equipment failure data to identify trends and implement engineering solutions to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Develop and revise preventive maintenance (PM) strategies, including appropriate granularity and cadence.
  • Conduct root cause analysis to improve equipment uptime and throughput.
  • Create and implement maintenance procedures, standard work, and monitoring/testing strategies.
  • Research and integrate new technologies to enhance equipment reliability and performance.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to embed reliability into all operational processes.
  • Manage capital and non-capital projects, applying project management fundamentals (scope, budget, WBS/schedule, etc.).
  • Communicate project updates clearly and efficiently; delegate tasks as necessary.
  • Supervise contractors and oversee day-to-day project activities.
  • Drive profitability through efficiency improvements (waste reduction, speed optimization, delay reduction, etc.).
  • Standardize manufacturing process improvements and tooling.
  • Perform time studies, uptime studies, and process capability evaluations.
  • Lead or facilitate continuous improvement initiatives and teams.
  • Ensure safe working conditions and integrate safety protocols into all activities.
  • Research, justify, and implement new processes, tooling, and equipment.
  • Manage procurement activities: obtain bids, evaluate vendors, and recommend purchases.
  • Design, test, and validate engineering countermeasures and corrective actions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Metallurgy experience Not required).
  • 7–10 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven experience leading major projects and managing equipment installations and upgrades.
  • Skilled in root cause analysis (8D, 5 Whys) and implementing effective corrective actions.
  • Proficient with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Access).
  • Strong attention to detail, with excellent communication and analytical skills.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Knowledge of FEL (Front-End Loading) project management process is a plus.
