Position SummaryThe Maintenance Manager, reporting directly to the Plant Manager or Plant Engineer, is responsible for planning and directing all maintenance activities to ensure safety, security, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. This key role leads a team of maintenance technicians to maximize machine uptime and productivity. Collaborating with the plant engineer and other technical resources, the Maintenance Manager provides leadership and technical guidance, fostering team engagement and continuous learning.
Responsibilities- Manage and direct the maintenance department to achieve business objectives.
- Promote a positive and safe working environment through teamwork and high employee involvement.
- Analyze downtime, identify causes, and recommend improvement actions.
- Lead the development and implementation of predictive and preventative maintenance plans.
- Prepare and monitor departmental budgets, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Identify and prioritize major maintenance issues, developing action plans to resolve them and maximize productivity.
- Oversee maintenance activities to ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
- Support the maintenance team daily, acting as a technical resource.
- Implement systems for technical problem-solving and accountability.
- Communicate with other management team members on technical and performance issues.
- Identify improvement opportunities and support capital projects with technical expertise.
Requirements- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or related Engineering field, or equivalent work experience.
- 8+ years of relevant technical and management experience, preferably in a food manufacturing or fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of food safety standards such as GFSI/BRC, SQF, GMP, HACCP, or similar is preferred.
- Demonstrated leadership, decision-making skills under pressure.
- Strong communication skills, good judgment, ethics, and result-oriented mindset.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, positive attitude, and ability to motivate, mentor, and coach.
- Adaptability to operational changes and a fast-changing environment.
- Familiarity with SAP or other ERP systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other digital tools (e.g., iPad, OneNote).
- AutoCAD experience is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of mechanics, pneumatics, hydraulics, instrumentation, and controls.
- Physical endurance, ability to stand for long periods, and ability to lift and push/pull loads as specified.
- Flexibility to work hours including weekends when needed.
- This role is designated as safety sensitive within Leclerc Foods USA.
Essential functions include:
- Lifting from floor to waist up to 52 lbs.
- Lifting from waist to shoulder up to 52 lbs.
- Push/pull force up to 55 lbs.
