The Opportunity

Plans, directs, and coordinates activities concerned with design, construction, modification, and maintenance of equipment and machinery in industrial plant by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors. This permanent position will report to the Engineering Manager.

  • Reports to the Plant Engineer Manager, and manages a 24-7 shift system, they will be responsible for providing electrical/mechanical, process and environmental maintenance support to this cheese/whey production and packing operation.
  • Assist the Project Manager in all areas while the main project is under construction and during the commissioning phase.
  • Liaise between SWC and general contractors, subcontractors, consultants and vendor equipment engineers in regard to the management of all new projects.
  • Assists procurement in providing an efficient maintenance parts replacement program.
  • Identifies and assembles internal and external resources where needed.
  • Assists in the training of all new team members.
  • Establishes team roles and expectations, develop positive work environment and resolves team conflicts. Facilitate proper communications between all team members.
  • Monitors and manages work breakdown structure, work quality, schedule critical path, safety compliance and budget.
  • Maintains proper maintenance records and documents.
  • Implements maintenance objectives and success criteria as directed by senior personnel.
  • Schedules and holds team meetings as required to review progress, resolve issues and clarify expectations.
  • Assists in training of operations personnel in the various plant design operational needs. Participates in effective commissioning and turnover of plant on new projects.
  • Manages Plant Maintenance Mechanics and Electricians and is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these individuals.
  • Utilizes GPS processes, driving zero losses and upholds the culture of Glanbia non-negotiables.

The Skills you will bring to the team

  • Associates degree in an engineering or a related field or equivalent work experience. Over six years of building/facilities/dairy maintenance experience. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Understanding of TPM and similar continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, handle multiply projects simultaneously and delegate assignments to others.
  • Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.
  • Ability to define problems, collects data, establishes facts, and draw valid conclusions and deal with a variety of concrete variables.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources
  • Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
  • Each employee shall comply with occupational safety and health standards and all rules, regulations, and orders issued pursuant to the Occupational Safety and Health Act which are applicable to his/her own actions and conduct.
  • Complies with all applicable food safety regulations and mandates (Safe Quality Foods, Food and Drug Admin, Pasteurized Milk Ordinance).
