The Opportunity
The Maintenance Manager is responsible for providing expertise and leadership to the service and maintenance staff while ensuring the safe maintenance, repair, or replacement of Smurfit Westrock's plant assets. The Maintenance Manager also drives continuous improvement of plant operations to enable efficient, high-quality production of customer products.
This position is located onsite at the Tupelo, MS Corrugated Container facility.
How You Will Impact Smurfit Westrock
- Provide strategic leadership on maintenance operations to ensure maximum production.
- Develop and implement maintenance strategies to enable operating efficiency in line with company values.
- Establish safety goals and plans to ensure a safe work environment.
- Create an effective Plant Maintenance Program using industry best practices to maximize equipment reliability and uptime.
- Supervise maintenance work ensuring the use of effective and up-to-date technology and practices.
- Manage and analyze maintenance KPIs to assess efficiency and identify improvement opportunities.
- Monitor and communicate departmental performance in Safety, Environmental, Reliability, and cost effectiveness.
- Contribute to the development of the maintenance business plan and forecasts.
- Lead maintenance staff to exceed industry standards for uptime and reliability.
- Participate in the Plant Leadership Team to align on plant goals and standards.
- Negotiate with union representatives on contract issues using win-win strategies.
- Ensure compliance with safety, health, and environmental policies and regulations.
- Promote a safety culture that encourages active participation and buy-in.
- Ensure staff are trained and motivated to achieve objectives safely and efficiently.
- Lead and motivate teams to achieve performance excellence, building trust-based relationships.
- Use problem-solving skills to make optimal decisions promptly.
What You Need To Succeed
- 2-year technical degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering (Required)
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical and/or Mechanical Engineering (Preferred)
- 10+ years of industrial maintenance experience with 5+ years in management (Required)
- Proficiency with software such as Microsoft Office, JDE, PLC/DCS, or similar CMMS systems.
