Job Description

Manages the overall maintenance functions of the facility, including equipment maintenance. Ensures the facility and all production equipment operate safely within designed specifications while maintaining high efficiency. Acts as a link between operations and engineering to promote growth and process improvement, staying abreast of the latest innovations and technology.

  • Provide leadership and direction to the maintenance department in areas of safety, sanitation, quality, customer service, and preventative maintenance.
  • Develop the department's long-term goals and support the company's strategic plans.
  • Create a positive working environment, support continuous improvement, employee empowerment, problem-solving skills, and increase staff's technical knowledge.
  • Maintain communication between maintenance and other departments.
  • Ensure all equipment, building, and policies conform to regulatory standards (OSHA, EPA, building codes).
  • Implement solutions to improve equipment efficiency, changeover, and safety.
  • Develop and manage maintenance budgets, including capital expenditures.
  • Manage vendor and contractor relationships focusing on quality, reliability, and cost.
  • Verify and approve accounts payable related to maintenance purchases.
  • Coordinate with departments to address production priorities and issues promptly.
  • Maintain a tire bank for transportation equipment.
  • Ensure proper preventative maintenance and emergency repairs for key equipment and systems (e.g., forklifts, yard trucks, trailers, fueling stations, dock levelers, overhead doors).
  • Maintain tools and spare parts inventory cost-effectively.
  • Coordinate facility projects, including bidding, managing, and scheduling.
  • Provide off-hours emergency maintenance contact.
  • Conduct employee training on safety and hazard communication.
  • Report maintenance and safety concerns to the facility manager.
  • Manage costs related to fleet maintenance and repairs.
  • Oversee bidding and purchasing of equipment and parts.
Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in operations management.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in equipment maintenance.
