Maintenance - Grounds Keeper - Asheboro City Schools : Job Details

Under general supervision, assists in the grounds maintenance and landscaping functions at all facilities across the district. Work involves the responsibility for safe, efficient operation of motorized equipment such as mowers, edger's, chainsaws, weed eaters, dump trucks, tractors, and snow plows. Employee must exercise independent judgment and initiative in performing assigned duties. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSGrounds: Maintains outdoor spaces at all district facilities, including landscaping, grass mowing, and debris clean up and removal, gutter cleaning and leaf removal, snow removal, tree removal, pruning, etc. as needed. Maintains the grounds, grass, shrubbery, trees, walkways, and steps of all district facilities. Operates mowers, trucks, dump trucks, transports equipment, edgers, and other hand tools and powered hand equipment. Requests, maintains and is responsible for the inventory and accountability of material, tools, repair parts, and equipment assigned. Responsible for having general working knowledge of the district's electronic work order system and the document flow associated with the system. Must have general knowledge of all departments' operating procedures. Athletics Support: Maintain football fields, baseball and softball fields, lacrosse fields, soccer fields, and practice fields. Paint and line stripe fields in preparation for athletic events. This includes football, soccer, softball, baseball, and lacrosse to regulation requirements. Applies fertilizers and herbicides to all athletic facilities. Maintains dugout benches, bleachers and fences at all athletic facilities. Replaces nets, installs wind screens and safety rail caps as needed. Cores, aerates and sprigs fields as needed. General Maintenance: Cleans roofs and gutters. Moves furniture for event set up and sets up for district events. Participates in the graduation set up and take down. Repairs sink holes. Serves as a painter during cold and inclement weather. Makes repairs to masonry and brick areas. Maintains paint machines and sprayers. Sets up and maintain irrigations systems. ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS Performs other related work as required. MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE High school graduate or equivalent. Previous experience in landscape work and operation of a variety of motorized equipment; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS Possession of a valid driver's license issued by the state of NC. Must maintain a safe driving record.
