Position Summary

The Maintenance Generalist is self-motivated and capable of working alone or as part of a team. They are responsible for proactively assisting in the maintenance and upkeep of the medical facility, furnishings, and equipment. Performs work in the operation, maintenance, and repair of medical/facilities and the associated systems and grounds. Competently carries out work assignments, technical and logistical support functions, and works proactively on various aspects of facility maintenance and preventative maintenance. Provides support in refurbishing, maintaining, and operating the facility, land, furnishings, and equipment. May serve as backup to other skilled trades workers on complex assignments. Complies with all company policies and procedures and adheres to proper safety standards.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screening and background check.
  • At least 1 year of maintenance experience recommended and meets the skills defined by the maintenance department.
  • Must have a valid Driver's license and the ability to obtain a CDL within 90 days.
  • Basic computer skills, including the ability to use email and basic knowledge of Windows 365.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a wide variety of general and preventative maintenance and repair work, ranging from unskilled tasks to trade-related projects requiring the operation of hand and power tools.
  • Handle daily calls and perform carpentry, minor electrical, painting, mechanical, and plumbing repairs, such as:
  • Unstopping toilets, sinks, or urinals; fixing water leaks; maintaining water heaters and fixtures; troubleshooting minor electrical issues, light fixtures, and time clocks.
  • Caulking windows and doors; repairing and replacing broken windows.
  • Performing routine repairs of structures, including wall repairs, flooring installation, patching, and sanding walls in preparation for painting.
  • Replacing switches, ballasts, troubleshooting, and replacing alarm initiating devices.
  • Repairing/replacing shower diverters, toilets, and operating drain machines.
  • Starting or restarting chillers and AHUs without assistance.
  • Troubleshooting alarms and making adjustments on the building BAS.
  • Repairing the hospital Nurse call system without assistance.
  • Installing shelving, painting, patching, repairing/replacing door hardware, sliding doors, and window shades.
  • Performing building maintenance inspections and rounds.
  • Scheduling and performing preventive maintenance for buildings, equipment, and grounds.
  • Ensuring safety and fire regulations are met for buildings and equipment.
  • Responsible for shift coverage and snow removal duties.
  • Performing general landscaping duties and operating landscape equipment such as tractors and mowers.
