As the Maintenance & Engineering Manager, you will develop and maintain an organization within the Shelby site that supports both Business and Operational strategies. You will establish a safety, quality, and productivity culture that is inclusive of a diverse workforce, including P&M team members, facility, and project engineers. Your results will be achieved by leading and maintaining a technical P&M and engineering workforce focused on facility and equipment upgrades and sustainability. The job scope includes elevating the site to operational excellence through the implementation of Preventive Maintenance/Total Productive Maintenance and building technical and facilities capital projects site-wide. This is an onsite role at our Shelby, NC facility. You will report to the Plant Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide engineering support to improve manufacturing processes, process capability, production yields, cost of goods sold, equipment reliability, waste minimization, and EH&S improvements through data-based decision making.
- Support manufacturing teams daily by observing and analyzing production runs, investigating root causes of off-standard runs, and developing sustainable corrective actions.
- Identify and drive technical process improvements through collaboration with on-site teams, including manufacturing, maintenance, engineering, EH&S, and quality functions.
- Act as the technical liaison for integrating new product development programs into manufacturing operations.
- Execute site capital projects aimed at cost reduction, safety, growth, compliance, and automation.
- Utilize site resources, PPG resources, or approved contractors to achieve strategic goals or complete critical activities.
- Prepare and manage budgets for capital projects, justify ROA/ROE/ROI, oversee bid processes, and implement cost-saving strategies.
- Lead, develop, and sustain a team of Maintenance Professionals, Technicians, Engineers, Managers, and Supervisors.
- Build and maintain a robust site PM and TPM system with clear KPIs and accurate reporting.
- Develop and execute a comprehensive 5-year plan for Maintenance, Facilities, and Engineering.
- Ensure high standards of personnel engagement and relations.
- Maintain EH&S compliance with all relevant standards and regulations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in a technical discipline, engineering preferred, or equivalent experience.
- At least 5 years of management/supervisory experience.
- Project Management Professional certification is an advantage.
- Expertise in driving performance improvements and metrics.
- Experience in root cause analysis and corrective actions for critical issues.
- Strong leadership skills to lead cross-functional teams, influence, and develop talent.
- Knowledge of construction procedures, safety compliance, PLC controls, Robots, SCADA, and MES systems.
