Food manufacturer in the Valdosta, GA area is seeking a Maintenance Engineering Manager to oversee and lead their maintenance and engineering teams. This role is crucial for ensuring the reliability and efficiency of their operations through effective maintenance strategies and strong team leadership. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background in maintenance and reliability engineering, coupled with proven experience in managing and developing a maintenance team in an industrial or manufacturing environment. Strong leadership and ability to initiate change will be key.
Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute a comprehensive maintenance strategy aligned with operational goals, focusing on maximizing asset uptime, optimizing maintenance costs, and improving overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
- Team Development & Management: Lead, mentor, coach, and develop a high-performing maintenance team. Foster an environment of continuous learning, accountability, and professional growth.
- Reliability Engineering Excellence: Implement and refine reliability engineering best practices, including Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), predictive maintenance (PdM) technologies (vibration analysis, thermography, etc.), and preventive maintenance (PM) optimization.
- Process Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the maintenance department, optimizing workflows, standardizing procedures, and leveraging technology to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Performance Management: Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for maintenance activities, regularly reporting on performance and identifying areas for improvement.
- Budget Management: Develop and manage the maintenance budget, ensuring cost-effective allocation of resources without compromising safety or reliability.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with production, engineering, and other departments to ensure seamless operations, minimize downtime, and support new equipment installations and modifications.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure all maintenance activities adhere to safety regulations, environmental standards, and company policies. Promote a strong safety culture within the team.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field. Master's degree preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in maintenance and reliability engineering roles, with at least 5 years in a leadership or management position within a manufacturing or industrial setting.
- Strong understanding and practical application of Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) principles, Lean Manufacturing, and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM).
- Proficiency with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) software.
- Experience with various predictive maintenance technologies (e.g., vibration analysis, infrared thermography, ultrasonic testing).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively across all levels of an organization.
- Certifications such as CMRP (Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional) or CRL (Certified Reliability Leader) are highly desirable.
