Paradigm at The Prairies is seeking a highly skilled Director of Maintenance to join our team! Must have healthcare experience.

Summary/Objective

In keeping with our organization's goals, this position is responsible for ensuring our facility is in a safe and comfortable environment. The position will oversee the maintenance of the building, grounds, and equipment needs, housekeeping, and laundry services pursuant to applicable federal, state, and local rules, regulations, and laws.

Job Duties

  • Oversee all work completed by maintenance, laundry, and housekeeping staff
  • Ensure the facility is kept clean, sanitary, and odor-free at all times in compliance with Federal, State, and local regulations
  • Familiarity with the overall operations of all housekeeping, laundry, and maintenance equipment
  • Conduct activities in the department consistent with the Life Safety Code and the facility's policies and procedures
  • Ensure that all facility maintenance activities are appropriately carried out
  • Ensure that all licenses, permits, and reviews are current and comply with laws and regulations
  • Keep records of all maintenance and service activities conducted
  • Maintain an effective system for staff to report maintenance or physical plant issues
  • Resolve facility issues in a timely manner
  • Make rounds of the facility to monitor cleanliness and address issues immediately
  • Work with the Administrator to maintain department budgets
  • Comply with all safety norms and regulations
  • Monitor and replenish maintenance, housekeeping, and laundry supplies
  • Hire qualified staff and schedule them according to policies
  • Administer disciplinary actions fairly and document appropriately
  • Terminate employment when necessary, coordinating with HR and the Administrator
  • Communicate effectively with staff, visitors, families, and supervisors
  • Participate in departmental meetings and in-services
  • Report concerns, incidents, accidents, and unsafe situations immediately
  • Maintain knowledge of applicable laws and regulations
  • Perform responsibilities in compliance with all laws, regulations, and policies
  • Required Education and Experience

    • High school diploma or GED
    • Computer literacy skills (Microsoft Outlook, Office, Internet)
    • Minimum three years' experience in a similar role in a medical setting
    • Experience with survey requirements for maintenance, laundry, and housekeeping
    • Experience with minor electrical, plumbing, HVAC repairs
    • Familiarity with PTAC units, fire alarms, nurse call lights, internet/network setup, and phone systems
