Mainframe CICS Systems Programmer - Calibro : Job Details

Mainframe CICS Systems Programmer Location: Remote - Must reside in Central or Eastern Time Zone (U.S.) Clearance Requirement: Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check. Overview: We are seeking a highly experienced CICS Systems Programmer to join our mainframe infrastructure team. This is a fully remote role open to candidates located in the Central or Eastern Time Zone. The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise in CICS, DB2, and MQ systems on the mainframe, and will be responsible for performance optimization, system maintenance, and advanced problem determination in a CICSPlex environment. Key Responsibilities:

• CICS Systems Programming:
  • Administer, customize, and optimize CICS regions within a CICSPlex environment.
  • Implement and support dynamic transaction routing and multi-region operation (MRO).
• DB2 and MQ Support:
  • Provide systems-level support for DB2 and MQ integration within CICS.
  • Resolve performance and connectivity issues across subsystems.
• Performance Tuning & Analysis:
  • Analyze CICS SMF records using CICS Performance Analyzer.
  • Adjust performance-related parameters and monitor system health using enterprise tools.
• Monitoring & Problem Determination:
  • Utilize tools like OMEGAMON, Mainview, or CICS Explorer to proactively identify issues.
  • Perform dump analysis and root cause investigation.
• SMP/E and JCL Proficiency:
  • Use SMP/E for software installation, upgrades, and maintenance.
  • Write and maintain JCL for batch processing, automation, and utility jobs.

Required Qualifications:

• 10+ years of experience as a CICS Systems Programmer.
• 10+ years of experience supporting DB2 and MQ on mainframe systems.
• Expertise in CICSPlex configuration and performance tuning.
• Advanced knowledge of JCL, SMP/E, and mainframe monitoring tools.
• Strong experience with CICS SMF records, CICS PA, and dump reading.
• Proven track record of resolving complex system and performance issues.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
