Job Title: Mailroom Assistant | State Government Opportunity (777644) job Type: Full-Time | 3-Month Contract Location: 1 Harborside Drive, East Boston, MA (Onsite) Shift timings: Monday-Friday, 8 hrs per day. We are currently seeking a Mailroom Assistant to join our team and work onsite with our direct client, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the Massachusetts Port Authority, in East Boston, MA. Job Overview: As a Mailroom Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting Massport operations by managing daily mail and package handling. This position requires strong attention to detail, a proactive attitude, and excellent customer service skills. You'll also assist with minor maintenance tasks and support general services operations. Key Responsibilities:
  • Receive, sort, and distribute mail and supplies to all Massport facilities in a timely and courteous manner
  • Pick up and deliver mail to/from the U.S. Post Office
  • Weigh and meter outgoing mail per postal regulations
  • Log packages received from couriers (FedEx, UPS, vendors, etc.) into tracking systems
  • Inspect mail and packages for damage or suspicious items and report accordingly
  • Process UPS shipments via the online system
  • Assist with inventory requests and deliver supplies, toner, water, and coffee as needed
  • Provide backup coverage for the Supervisor of General Services
  • Maintain Central Services pool vehicles (gas, cleaning, etc.)
  • Coordinate courier pickups and support copier maintenance
  • Perform general light cleaning and assist with minor repairs or moving furniture
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • 1-3 years of experience in an office or mailroom environment preferred
  • Ability to read, follow oral/written instructions, and perform basic math
  • Reliable, punctual, and detail-oriented
  • Physically able to lift packages and move items as needed
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Familiarity with mail tracking systems and shipping platforms (UPS, FedEx) is a plus
