Job Location : Yorktown,VA, USA
Distributes large quantities of incoming, outgoing, and interoffice mail for the County. Receives, sorts, and delivers incoming mail and processes outgoing mail. Responsible for performing routine maintenance and refilling supplies on equipment. Work is performed under general supervision.
Minimum QualificationsGraduation from high school, and 1-2 years experience in mail room work; or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. General knowledge of basic arithmetic including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, and fractions. General knowledge of English grammar to include spelling and punctuation. General knowledge of postal guidelines and regulations. Some knowledge of basic record keeping procedures. Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
Supplemental InformationMust possess a valid driver's license issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia. Performs special delivery requests as needed to support County initiatives.
Physical DemandsMust be physically able to operate a variety of automated machines which include mailing machines, scales, computers, etc. Must be able to operate a motor vehicle. Must be able to bend and lift packages weighing up to 30 pounds. Physical demand requirements are more than those for sedentary work. Usually requires walking or standing to a significant degree.
