Examples of Duties Issued Dec 2024 A Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Technologist performs technical and quality assurance functions associated with MRI, Computed Tomography (CT) and radiographic procedures at the Erie County Medical Center Corporation (ECMCC); Performs or assists with MRI, CT and radiographic procedures, to include pre and post processing of images, following prescribed protocols; Prepares equipment and supplies; Prepares and positions patients for imaging using appropriate positioning aids to ensure patient safety; Processes images and prepares/files images for interpretation and report distribution/archive; Reviews images for technical accuracy and determines need for retakes or additional views; Injects contrast pharmaceuticals via venous access as required by the New York State Department of Health, following department guidelines; reports any adverse drug reactions; Administers ionizing radiation; Performs and documents health teaching/patient screening and inquires related to contrast history; Schedules and/or prioritizes procedures to ensure timely procedure completion; Coordinates the scheduling and care of patients with other departments, such as anesthesia, emergency room, physician's offices and other facilities; Arranges for and/or performs appropriate patient transport to and from radiology department; Inspects and keeps images, computer/digital, electronic transfer, processing and ancillary equipment in safe working order to ensure proper and safe performance before patient procedures are initiated; informs supervisor, co-workers or repair staff of needed maintenance; Performs mandated regulatory compliance tasks and quality control in accordance with federal, state and local authorities and accrediting bodies; Meets with vendors to discuss existing and new products; provides related education/training to co-workers; Serves as a mentor and participates in the orientation of staff and students; Participates in new technology/product in-services, training programs and meetings and serves on committees Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must meet the following requirements on or before the date of application: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS as MRI TECHNOLOGIST (Job Grade Rad Scale 3): Graduation from an accredited school* of Radiologic Technology and one (1) year of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) or Computed Tomography (CT) experience. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS as MRI TECHNOLOGIST TRAINEE (Job Grade Rad Scale 2): Candidates must have graduated from an accredited school* of Radiologic Technology. After completion of the one (1) year training term and completion of special requirements, a trainee candidate shall be entitled to advance to permanent status as a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Technologist (Job Group Rad Scale 3) without further examination. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Possession of a license and current registration to practice as a Radiologic Technologist as issued by the New York State Department of Health at the time of application, appointment and throughout continued employment; and Possession of American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) Certification with Radiology Primary Credential at the time of application and maintenance throughout duration of appointment; and Possession and maintenance of certification to administer contrast media intravenously issued by New York State Department of Health, in accordance with New York Codes, Rules and Regulations, Title 10, Part 89.40, at time of appointment and maintenance throughout duration of appointment; and Possession and maintenance of Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification from an ECMCC approved provider at time of appointment and maintenance throughout duration of appointment. Plan Details:

Dental Insurance: Full-time employees represented by CSEA in Erie County receive dental coverage through the CSEA Employee Benefit Fund (EBF). The County contributes $22.13 per bi-weekly pay period for single coverage and $72.69 for family coverage.   • Employees work a standard schedule that includes a paid one-hour lunch period each workday.
  • Eligible employees receive overtime pay at one and one-half times their regular rate for hours worked beyond their standard work schedule.
