Overview

A cutting-edge DefenseTech and Geo-Intelligence company based in New York City, is seeking a highly skilled and creative Machine Learning Engineer to take ownership of developing and optimizing innovative models for analyzing the satellite imagery. This is a hybrid/in-office role where your work will have a direct, tangible impact on product development and real-world applications in a novel domain.

• Base salary between $175,000 - $200,000, depending on experience

The role

As a Machine Learning Engineer, you will:

• Translate challenging, high-level problems into effective machine learning solutions.
• Manage the end-to-end machine learning pipeline: research, data management, model development, and testing.
• Develop and validate proofs-of-concept in the field, rapidly iterating based on customer feedback.
• Collaborate with the MLE team to continuously develop and refine ML practices and infrastructure.
• Continuously optimize and refine models to improve performance, accuracy, and efficiency.
• Integrate machine learning models seamlessly with embedded systems.
• Navigate evolving requirements, quickly identifying bottlenecks and adjusting approaches as needed.

The essential requirements:

• Previous/current experience working for a DefenseTech company.
• Familiarity with Defense and/or Geo-Intelligence satellite imagery / remote sensing datasets.
• 3+ years' commercial / in industry experience working on production level machine learning focussing on deploying and maintaining real-world applications, ensuring their reliability, scalability, and user satisfaction.
• Deep proficiency in Python, PyTorch, and relevant machine learning frameworks.
• Familiarity with the Linux operating system.
• Ability to collaborate effectively across disciplines, including embedded systems engineers, leadership, and customers.
• Strong communication skills, capable of articulating complex technical concepts clearly to diverse stakeholders.
