Apply Today!Salary: $21-$24 per hour based on experience.Statement of Purpose: The Medical Assistant - Community Program Specialist is a dynamic role responsible for providing high-quality clinical care within CAN Community Health clinics while also supporting outreach initiatives across the community. This position is designed to bridge gaps in HIV prevention and care by combining direct patient services with community-based health promotion. The role includes in-clinic responsibilities under the supervision of a Nurse, Provider, APRN, or PA (per state regulations), along with participation in mobile medical units and public health events to extend care beyond traditional settings.Values:Recognize and affirm the unique and intrinsic worth of each individual.Treat all those we serve with compassion and kindness.Act with absolute honesty, integrity, and fairness in the way I conduct my business and the way Ilive my life.Trust my colleagues as valuable members of our healthcare team and pledge to treat one another with loyalty, respect, and dignity.Essential Functions:Clinical Duties (in accordance with the state scope of practice)Performs standard clinical duties within the assigned CAN clinic, including:Patient intake, vitals, chart review, and rooming.Administering medications and injections per provider orders.Phlebotomy and specimen collection (e.g., STI swabs, rapid testing).Supporting minor procedures and infection control practices2. Maintains accurate and timely documentation in the EMR system.3. Ensures compliance with clinical protocols and promotes efficient clinical workflowsOutreach & Mobile Health Support:Participates in community outreach events, including:HIV/STI testing events.Health fairs and public awareness campaigns.Education and prevention efforts focused on vulnerable and high-risk populations.2. Assists in the operation of mobile medical units, providing services such as:On-site testing and screening.Patient intake and health education.Supporting coordination and logistics in the field.Collaborates with prevention, clinical, and administrative teams to ensure consistency and excellence in community service delivery.Administrative & Interpersonal Responsibilities:Assists with front desk operations and administrative duties (e.g., scheduling, billing, chart preparation).Engages with the community with compassion and professionalism, supporting CAN's mission of equity and access.Coordinates closely with the clinical team to identify and close care gaps in HIV and PrEP services.Promotes linkage to care and ensures positive patient experiences, whether in-clinic or in the field.Requirements:Education/Professional:Medical Assistant Certification or minimum of 3 years of healthcare experience.BLS/CPR certificationEMR proficiency and general computer literacyCompetencies: CommunicationProblem SolvingAttention to DetailKnowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:Strong understanding of HIV/STI prevention, PrEP, and community health engagement.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to connect with diverse patient populations.Ability to work independently in both clinical and non-traditional settings.Must demonstrate flexibility, initiative, reliability, and cultural competency.Work Environment:This job operates in a professional office environment.
