The Lubrication & Hydraulic System Specialist is responsible for the maintenance, inspection, and optimization of lubrication and hydraulic systems across the steel rolling and finishing mill. This role ensures proper function, fluid cleanliness, and system integrity to minimize downtime and extend equipment life. The Specialist also supports piping and tubing layout, installation, and repair to ensure reliable fluid delivery. The position collaborates with maintenance, operations, and engineering teams to improve system reliability and performance. The position is on site.

Main Responsibilities

  • Implement and maintain a comprehensive lubrication program for all rolling mill equipment, including drive shafts, bearings and gearboxes.
  • Perform routine lubrication activities, including oiling, greasing, oil sampling, and inspection of lubrication systems.
  • Route, install, and secure hydraulic and lubrication piping and tubing according to system requirements and engineering drawings.
  • Monitor and maintain the condition and levels of bulk oil tanks.
  • Report monthly oil usage and inventory levels to the warehouse team for accurate charging and replenishment.
  • Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair hydraulic systems, including pumps, valves, accumulators, hoses, and manifolds.
  • Monitor hydraulic system performance (pressure, temperature, cleanliness) and perform preventive maintenance to avoid system failures.
  • Conduct oil analysis and particle count testing to identify contamination or degradation in both lubrication and hydraulic circuits.
  • Maintain proper storage, labeling, and handling procedures for lubricants and hydraulic fluids, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards.
  • Update and manage lubrication and hydraulic PMs in CMMS and maintain accurate maintenance records.
  • Support new equipment installations and rebuilds by ensuring proper lubrication and hydraulic system setup and commissioning.
  • Collaborate with engineering and reliability teams to improve system designs, upgrade components, and eliminate recurring issues.
  • Adhere to all department and company safety programs

About You

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in lubrication and hydraulic maintenance in a heavy industrial environment.
  • Experience in routing and installing hydraulic and lubrication piping and tubing.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical and hydraulic drawings and schematics.
  • Familiar with automatic lubrication systems and centralized hydraulic systems.
  • Excellent knowledge of maintenance performance standards.
  • Experience writing procedures.
  • Very good computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft 365.
  • Committed to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Strong organizational, troubleshooting, and communication skills.

Preferred

  • Associate degree in mechanical or industrial systems.
  • Certifications such as MLT I/II, CLS (STLE), or IFPS Fluid Power certification.
  • Oil analysis interpretation and CMMS experience.
