The Cord Blood Collection Coordinators responsibility is to obtain informed consent from the donating mother, assist Obstetric MD/ DO in collecting umbilical cord blood units (CBU) during final phase of labor, provide obstetrician with all materials needed for cord blood collection, obtain peripheral blood (PB) for infectious disease testing from the donating mother, accurately label the umbilical cord blood units (CB - Us) after delivery from mothers choosing to donate to the public Cleveland Cord Blood Center.
