South Carolina Federal Credit Union is currently seeking a Loss Resolution Specialist to join our team of outstanding professionals in North Charleston, SC.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Level I Duties:
- Work collaboratively with the Asset Protection management and team to control delinquency and minimize credit loss while following established policies and procedures during the collection of delinquent loans and credit cards.
- Utilize collection queues, auto dialer systems, and reports to maintain communication with members on delinquent accounts and document pertinent information appropriately.
- Contact members for repayment arrangements and coordinate receipt of payments.
- Answer calls from internal and external members regarding delinquent accounts, conducting account research, audits, and corrections as needed.
- Meet or exceed team objectives for delinquency and charge-offs through account reviews and communication with account holders.
- Stay informed about the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
- Support the Collections Manager with duties as needed.
- Assist other team members as required.
Level II Duties:
- Research member disputes on delinquent loans and submit corrections or adjustments to the appropriate department.
- Counsel and educate members regarding their financial responsibilities, obligations, and options, exercising discretion and judgment.
- Make recommendations to management for assistance to members facing hardships, including preparing necessary paperwork such as extensions, re-ages, rewrites, modifications, and workouts, following current guidelines.
- Review and recommend accounts for repossession, charge-offs, legal or magistrate actions for management approval.
Level III Duties:
- Discuss options for redemption of repossessed vehicles with members, complete the Redemption Approval form, and submit with recommendations.
- Evaluate and finalize problem accounts and potential charge-offs for management review.
- Handle member requests for hardship assistance, gathering necessary information to determine appropriate hardship tools.
- Complete logs related to delinquent loans and hardship assistance.
- Negotiate settlements, including short sales and refunds for canceled backend products.
Minimum qualifications include:
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least 3 years of related collections experience within a financial services environment.
- Ability to perform in a high-volume, fast-paced environment, including telephone interactions.
- Effective professional communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive issues tactfully.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work cooperatively at all levels.
- Ability to analyze complex information and make sound decisions.
- Experience researching, analyzing, and solving difficult problems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and various lending systems.
- Intermediate mathematical skills.
