Logistics Analyst 2 Morton, IL (Onsite) 12 months contract Job Description: Summary: The main function of a logistics planning analyst is to coordinate and expedite the flow of work and materials within or between departments of an establishment according to production schedule. A typical planning analyst is responsible for reviewing and distributing production, work and shipment schedules and compiling reports on inventory levels, cost, etc. Position's Contributions to Work Group: The successful candidate will serve as the first line of communication between our customer (North America Manufacturing Facilities), suppliers, and transportation providers. This position requires both problem solving and problem prevention skills, excellent communication skills, and a strong sense of urgency. Reason/motivation for request: Backfill of high-performing incumbent who has built a strong working relationship and sense of trust with the internal customers. Client's machines, engines, and other products are used in all regions of the world, with a global supply base shipping to factories and parts distribution facilities on six continents. This position will support imports of parts and components to the United States manufacturing facilities. Why Client? Why this Role? - This position offers a unique opportunity to be at the heart of Client's global supply chain, directly impacting the efficiency and reliability of international parts and components shipments to North American manufacturing facilities. This role provides a strong foundation in international transportation and customer service, opening doors to future opportunities in supply chain management, operations, and logistics. Typical task breakdown: - Manage a shared email inbox for GMM - 100+ emails/daily. - First line of communication to connect regional control towers, suppliers, material planners and transportation providers. - Compile necessary information from facilities to open a manual PO request once daily. - Ad hoc track and trace and customer service tasks as needed. - Schedule drayage shipments from US suppliers using Client's Blue Yonder TMs system. Interaction with team: - Extensive collaboration with transportation analysts, steamship line representatives, freight forwarders, regional control towers, Client material planners and Client Parts stakeholders. Will work closely with colleagues in Asia, Europe, South America and Australia. Team Structure - Global team across Asia, Europe, South America and Australia. Team of 5 reporting to work director. Work environment: - Successful candidate will be comfortable in a stressful environment characterized by unpredictable challenges and must-meet deadlines. - 100% Office Education & Experience Required: - College degree preferred, but high school diploma with 2-4 years of transportation or international supply chain experience required. - With a bachelor's degree, will accept 2 years of transportation or international supply chain experience required. - Master's degree will be overqualified. Top 3 Skills - Sense of urgency, problem solving, ability to work independently with little to no direction. Additional Technical Skills (Required) - Comfortable with Excel and Outlook. Within excel, this person will need to perform v-lookups and pivot tables. However, it can be taught. Soft Skills - Strong customer service focus and sense of urgency - Comfortable with intercultural communication - Ability to problem solve challenges ranging from weather events to labor disruptions to rail congestion to mistakes in commercial documents to bridges falling into harbors. - Ability to work independently with little to no direction.
