This position will be based at our Meherrin Grain location in Newsoms, VA.
The Company
Meherrin Grain Group based in 7 locations, is affiliated with Meherrin Agricultural & Chemical Company.
Job Purpose
To manage and sell in every facet of a daily operation to achieve maximum return to the location's profitability. This position will work out of our Newsoms and Franklin locations. Reports to the Director of Grain.
Job Responsibilities
- Provide support and direction of duties to hourly employees.
- To manage the Retail Location's P&L Budget.
- Oversee inventory management support including counting, ordering, rotating and capital in use management.
- Foster an environment of positive employees with a team player type attitude.
- Outside sales to customers to help drive sales goals for the location.
- Manage personnel in maintenance intervals and repairs of the locations assets.
- Implement employee training schedule.
- Ensure that all daily activities are aligned with Meherrin's mission, vision, and values.
- Maintain proper paperwork as outlined by the company's policies, to ensure an adequate audit score when performed.
- Conduct direct reports for three full-time and multiple seasonal employees
- To profitably originate and fill 800K bu of grain space in Capron, Newsoms, Franklin
- Manage Newsoms and Franklin location's.
- New facility – time spent getting it up and going
- Source farmer peanut contracts and management thereof

Requirements
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- 5+ years preferred of grain handling and merchandising experience
- Farming background a plus
- Management/leadership experience
- Sales experience

- Salesmanship skill translated to purchasing grain from farmers
- Management skills
Physical Demands
Ability to lift 40 pounds, fast-paced, hands-on, and safety-focused, requiring proactive leadership and attention to operational detail. The facility operates in dynamic agricultural conditions, including exposure to varying weather, heavy equipment, and grain-handling systems. Collaboration with team members, farmers, and logistics partners is key to ensuring efficient, compliant, and customer-focused grain management.
