Job Summary

The Licensed Counselor / Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) provides comprehensive clinical and case management services to individuals with mental health and substance use disorders. Responsibilities include conducting assessments, developing individualized treatment plans, providing therapeutic interventions, and ensuring compliance with applicable laws, ethical standards, and organizational policies. The role requires collaboration with interdisciplinary teams and community partners to support patients' physical, psychological, social, and spiritual needs. Occasional travel may be required.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Services

  • Conduct biopsychosocial assessments using ASAM criteria and other validated tools.
  • Develop and implement person-centered treatment plans.
  • Provide individual and group counseling for mental health and substance use recovery.
  • Monitor progress and revise treatment plans as clinically indicated.
  • Coordinate care with healthcare providers and external agencies.
  • Advocate for access to resources such as housing, food, transportation, and legal support.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation in accordance with regulatory standards.
  • Utilize toxicology results to inform treatment decisions, not for punitive purposes.
  • Ensure adherence to HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, and applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Document progress notes, treatment plans, and required counseling service units.

Team Collaboration & Development

  • Participate in team meetings, clinical supervision, and case conferences.
  • Support quality improvement initiatives and program evaluations.
  • Foster effective communication and collaboration across clinical and administrative teams.
  • Lead by example in supporting organizational mission and values.

Administrative Duties

  • Facilitate patient intake, orientation, and discharge planning.
  • Prepare interpretative summaries, transition documentation, and referrals.
  • Maintain regular attendance and uphold the organization's professional code of conduct.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.

Qualifications

Education

  • Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, or a related behavioral health field.

Licensure

  • Current and valid LCSW license in Tennessee permitting independent clinical practice.

Experience

  • Experience working with individuals with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions.
  • Familiarity with ASAM criteria and evidence-based treatment models is preferred.

Special Requirements

  • Maintain appropriate licensure and continuing education compliance.
  • Knowledge of federal and state behavioral health regulations, including 42 CFR Part 2.
  • Adherence to professional ethics and standards (e.g., NASW, NAADAC, or similar bodies).

Physical & Work Conditions

  • Mix of sedentary and ambulatory work; occasional lifting (30+ lbs).
  • Ability to assist patients physically in emergency situations.
  • Requires ability to stoop, bend, reach, stand, and sit (with or without accommodation).
  • Effective verbal and written communication and adequate hearing required.
  • Must be emotionally stable and capable of managing high-stress clinical interactions.
  • Potential exposure to infectious materials; adherence to safety and infection control policies required.
  • Compliance with workplace safety, violence prevention, ADA, EEOC, and corporate policies is mandatory
